This article gives the life of a Catholic priest who gave his life to the lepers of Hawaii, and who, living with them and serving them, became a leper himself. Sent as a temporary chaplain to the Hawaiian leper colony, he decided to stay, saying, “I make myself a leper with the lepers to gain all to Jesus Christ.” And Mother Teresa-like, he changed their living conditions from the horror it had been. He was canonized by Pope Benedict XVI in 2009.
