Facing great violence and evildoing of those around her, including that of her family members and of the people of her city who were battling one another, she was able to save many souls, including her family’s, making her the saint of the impossible. Her story doesn’t end there, continuing after she entered the convent, after her husband was murdered by enemies in a warring city.

Saint Rita - Please pray for Ireland on your feast day. May they protect, and continue to hold sacred, true natural marriage.
 
St. Rita is amazing! I prayed for her assistance alongside a rosary when my grandfather, who had lived a very un-Catholic life, was dying. I asked for him to be able to make a full and contrite confession. No sooner had I finished praying then my father knocked on my bedroom door to tell me a priest had just seen my grandfather! Amazing! He passed away days later.

An angel appeared to her, in a vision, and told her that it was the will of God that there would be born of her a daughter who would be, from her very birth, marked with the seal of sanctity, gifted with every virtue, and that she would be the helper of the helpless, and advocate of the afflicted, and a guiding star in the firmament of the Church.

To me, at least, this makes what she did more possible, not impossible.
The mothers of the town would tell their little daughters to take Rita as their model.

Somehow, I don’t think these mothers received visions. Try as I might, I’ll never be Nolan Ryan. Don’t have the hand grip nor the arm strength. Or this case, my mother never had a vision and I wasn’t marked with the seal of sanctity or gifted with every virtue. So, St. Rita may indeed be Saint of the Impossible, as in impossible standard.
