When the website writer writes “…and who is believed to be…” who is he talking about who is doing the “believing”?
Who is he saying* believes it to be* Jesus?

Did Padre Pio say at some point later on that he thought his vision was Jesus? (he doesn’t say it here in his letter).
Or did others, not the priest, think it was Jesus?

I remember reading he had psychic/medium abilities.

With regard to the gifts and abilities Padre Pio had, he used them to serve the Lord and console others.
The words “psychic/medium” belongs to the category of new age beliefs, which exclude the truths taught by our Lord Jesus Christ, or try to mimic them and they become a mirage.

Agreed, to may times we mix New age words in our Catholic vocabulary and should never do this. It is very misleading. God Bless, Memaw

Padre Pio, in a deposition to a fellow priest in March, 1966 had this to say about this “Mysterious Being.”

Pio declared, “All of a sudden, a great light shone round about my eyes. In the midst of this light there appeared the Wounded Christ. He said nothing to me before he disappeared.”
In an interview on Febrary 6, 1967, he was pressed into further detail. The crucifix in the choir transformed itself “into a great Exalted Being, all blood, from whom there came forth beams of light with shafts of flame that wounded me in the hands and the feet. My side had already been wounded on the fifth of August in that same year.”
It is clear that Padre Pio, at least by the end of his life, identified the “Exalted Being” who appeared to him in August and September of 1918 as Christ.
When the ecstasy ended, Pio was on the floor, his hands, his feet, and side dripping blood.
Pio’s letter to Bennedetto does not say what happened next. According to an interview granted to Don Giuseppe Orlando, Pio found himself in too much pain to rise and had to drag himself the length of the corridor to his cell. Once there, he cleansed the oozing wounds and went to bed. He told Orlando that, seeing the wounds, he wept and sang songs of thanksgiving.
