Stranded, choose the Bible (or) a human to keep you company.

Ok, you are going to be stranded on some deserted island, likely for the rest of your life. You are given a choice, you will either be given a bible, or a human being to be stranded with for your duration. The catch on the person, in no way would there be any physical contact with what so ever and you could only discuss biblical topics with them.

Who/what would you choose and why?
 
If you can speak to the human then I’m sorry to say it, but I’ll take the human. Why? you ask? Well, I actually I am in a situation like that. I’m surrounded by people daily but few speak to me or they look down on me just because I’m nice. I’ve lived through books all my life and while i enjoyed it in the beginning I had only a few friends…and my constant mood is sad when alone, yet happy when I can atleast exchange ideas with another good and bad topics.
Sorry, but human interaction trumps living through books. Atleast for this human. To get a layman’s case study of it for those who think I’m crazy for my choice, just watch the movie Castaway starring Tom Hanks.

Oh, and even God thought it wasn’t good for man to be alone…enter Eve. 🙂
 
An interesting question. Some Bible fundamentalists, to hear them talk, would prefer just the Bible Alone. Many are Lone Ranger christians. I heard one speaker say that when she had a problem, she would “tell God alone”. But God gave us people and said it is not good for man to be alone, yes, enter Eve. But also good friends - how we need them!
 
I’ll take the human. Because if things get too bad, ya can’t eat the bible.
 
Well, duh, the Bible tells you that it is not good for man to be alone, so if you take the Bible, you are not using the Bible to decide
 
A real human person, you’d go nuts with just a bible. Probably invent a few religions “based on the bible” before you were dead honestly.

I will take the human since I am created for relationship with other humans and through them for relationship with God. Between the two of us we will have enough bible committed to memory to continue to live in its precepts and to love the Word, and delight in repeating it to and with each other. The Word will be present in our hearts even without the printed book, as it was in the hearts of the Judaeans in exile in Babylon.

Do we get to choose the human? If so, then…I’ll take Jesus; for two reasons. First, that way I’d get both scripture AND Someone to talk to, and second, HE would get so bored with the idea that He would get us both OFF that island very quickly. Probably within a nanosecond or two.

However, If I couldn’t have Him, I’d go with Peter or one of the other early apostles. Maybe not Paul, though…his opinion of women would drive me bonkers in about an hour. Same reasoning (except for the escape…and even that’s a possibility.)

I would choose the human…in this human, I would be able to see the face of God, the Light Within. A book that tells me to love my brother whom I have seen and can actually communicate with trumps a book that tells me what others think of God.

I would prefer a Bible and Penelope Cruz. She is the most beautiful woman in the world, and quite intelligent. I could learn Spanish, we could keep our French up, and she would provide days, months, years of sparkling conversation. That conversation and the King James Bible ought to keep us from sinning.

human, obviously. 🙂

you gain alot more living with a person than with a book. no doubt the bible contains wonderful knowledge, but being a hermit would probably kill me. (i dont wanna end up nutty and crazy, and probably twice as easily influenced by Satan)

even Adam had Eve~so we are entitled to another person’s companionship. =)
