Strange but Serious Question

“Inasmuch as some men were wont to paint or draw on walls and boards lascivious pictures, such as women stark naked or bathing or being kissed by men, and other such shameful scenes, which deceive the eyes of beholders and excite the mind and heart to carnal desires, therefore and on this account the present Canon commands that no such pictures shall by any means whatsoever be painted or drawn or sketched. If anyone should make any such pictures, let him be excommunicated, since all the five senses of the body, and especially the first and royalest one, the eyesight, is easily led to impress the pictures of those things which it sees into the soul. That is why Solomon recommends that our eyes look aright at things that are fine and good and beautiful, and that everyone of us keep his mind and heart away from the shameful objects of the senses” (D. Strange question I know, but does this quote mean it’s sinful to draw scenes of people kissing? Or am I just being overly paranoid about this?

You need to take this to your parents/church leader and get them to help you out. If you’re scrupulous, we can’t advise you at CAF.

My parents aren’t Catholic, and technically neither am I, so I don’t have a church leader.
 
Are you able to speak with a Priest? In any case, we can’t give you the help you need online. You need to talk to your parents about your scruples.
 
The internet is not the place for questions when you are scrupulous. Please find a spiritual director or counselor to help you.
 
Stop. Just stop. This is not an appropriate media for you to handle your scruples.
 
It appears to me that this was written for those who deliberately drew pictures in a manner to incite the senses.

This is directed to not producing, viewing, or promoting pornographic media. Back then it would be paintings, now obviously it has expanded to other forms of media.

If the intent of drawing people kissing is to incite lust in others or to act out a sexual situation, this would be bad and also against the virtue of emotional chastity.

Kissing in and of itself isn’t a sinful act. It’s a loving act. But when it is flipped and used as an object of pleasure instead of love, this is the fundamental issue. If you are drawing people kissing, ask yourself why. Is it because you want to envision what it would be like if that was you? Or is it you just like to draw that for some hobby?

Christina, you’re scrupulous, and you shouldn’t be reading these sorts of things, as they seem to trigger your scruples. They’re things that need to be read with some training and understanding of how they’re contextualized. It can be easy to compulsively pull something out of context and take it in such a way as to make everything a sin. This is why you need to stop asking questions online and seek the help of a priest and a counselor.
