Strange prayer request

Hello all,
I have a very strange prayer request. I need guidance from God on what to do in my life. I currently lead the technology department at a company. The owner wants me to move over to company sales. Some background, I’ve been at the company for 17 years, very passionate about technology since 1984 when I was just a teen using a Commodore 64 computer.

If I go into sales, then everything I love about technology will go away and I fear I’ll be stuck doing something I’m not happy with. In turn if I’m not happy my life maybe miserable and I think that in turn that will reflect on me as a person and then on my interactions with my family.

If I do not go in sales and stay where I’m at then will my boss think less of me and eventually get rid of me because I did not try.

I have a wife, 2 young boys… and I just want work work… need income that is one of my main concerns. God help me… 😊

Hi J-cath!

It seems to me like in what you wrote, you are assuming something about your boss that may not be true - that he would think less of you. Even if it is true right now, you can speak to your boss - that you are very grateful for the offer, and for his confidence in you, but that your heart is in technology and not in sales, so you would like to stay where you are.

Your boss may not know how much you love and are interested in technology. He might just be noticing that you are a conscientious and hard-working person, and he needs someone like conscientious and hardworking in sales. But giving up something you love doing, and are doing well at, for something you would find boring - doesn’t sound like it really needs to happen!

It seems to me your employer is very wise,
He knows your background , you know what your talking about when it comes to technology
He just wants to take advantage of your knowledge , and maybe he thinks you need a change of focus , sales is where things get interesting and challenging ,
Because you need to explain how and why things work,
Go with it,you will love it, think positive,go for it,
 
Father, J-cath knows You love him and have plans for him.
But sometimes he is overwhelmed by the thought
of his future. Show him how to walk forward, one
day at a time. May he take heart while he searches
openly, learns all about the choices, listens to others
for advice, and pays attention to his own feelings.
By doing these things, may he hear Your call to live
a life that will let him love as only he can, and allow
him to serve others with the special gifts You have
given him.

Pray about it and ask God to give you peace with what you decide.
 
Yes, I will pray for you but it might also be a good idea to go to Adoration and flat out ask the Lord HIS will… (not your own) and then be open and listen. Our Lord often speaks to us at times like this. He knows you like no one else and knows what would be best for you and your family:)
