Hello everybody,

this is my first time EVER on a forum. I had a strange experience
last night, it’s actually happened to me 3 or 4 times before. While I was in bed praying I felt an intense feeling of something present with me. It kinda of felt uncomfortable and I had to turn the lights on, I still felt it there. I can’t describe the feeling, I’m not sure whether I was really scared or not(I guess I was scared if I had to turn on the lights). The otehr times this had happened to me I was either reading the bible or praying. Anybody ever experience this, does anybody know anything about this “phenomena”?

Oh goodness yes!

When I returned to the church approximately 1 1/2 years ago, satan wasn’t too happy. I had plenty of mortal sins on my soul that he must have felt confident I was doomed and wasn’t worth the bother…until Our Lord washed me clean after my confession upon returning. Then…satan tried his best to scare the pants off me. I needed some help from the parish priest to finally get him to stop his antics, but I don’t doubt that he’ll be back to try again sometime.

Do you have holy water? If so, take it out and sprinkle it around you. Say “In the name of Jesus be gone”, call on St. Michael the archangel, call on your guardian angel.

Fear does not come from God. And satan has no power other than what God allows him.

Hello Dansots:

Yes, Backhome’s advice is good.

You don’t say whether this is the first time anything like this has happened to you in your house, that is, whether you may have a poltergeist. You might consider having a good priest come over (invite him to dinner, perhaps) and bless your house room by room, particularly if this was not a single occurrence. Any priest may do this.

Also, get rid of (i.e., destroy) any evil objects, like ouija boards, tarot cards, etc. that might serve as a focus for evil spirits.

Especially though, remember that Satan is the ultimate loser. Don’t let him get you down.

Regards,
Joannes

Yes, I’ve had that happen to me also. Actually there was a period where it was happening often. I keep holy water next to my bed and use it often and started praying the Seven Sorrows chaplet in addition to the Rosary and other prayers and it seems to have helped.

Great response!

Dear friend

You’ve had great advice here.

Don’t be afraid. You have nothing to be afraid of, satan and his band of evil spirits can do nothing. He is only capable of doing what you allow him to do.

Be strong in the strength of Christ Jesus, as the other poster said, stand up when this happens and bless yourself with the Sign of the Cross (a powerful prayer) with Holy Water and bless with the Holy Water, making the Sign of the Cross the entire room you are in.

There are no such things as poltergiests. Many exorcists and psychiatrists have found that it is a phenomena usually caused by teenagers who are suffering stress or upset in their lives and kinetic energy causes objests to move etc. There are also no such things as ghosts. No spirit once their earthly life is over comes back to this earth unless God allows it, God does not send spirits back to earth unless He has good and valid reason. It has been speculated that God allows close relatives to be seen by those who are mourning as a source of comfort to them, however after bereavement the mind is most upset and can think that it has ‘seen’ a relative/loved one, when it has not actually seen them.

What you are experiencing here is attack on your prayer life, I have endured this myself, by the grace of God. Don’t give up praying to God because of this evil presence. Laugh in it’s face and continue to talk to God.

We are all engaged in spiritual battle daily, don’t be afraid or worry about becoming weary, the One whom you live in, Christ Jesus, is MIghty and Strong and in Him, you have nothing to fear, save God.

I’ll keep you in my prayers

God Bless you and much love and peace to you

Teresa

The evil one has been bothering me lately as well. Bringing up old fears and trying to destroy my Love for our Lord. He will not win! I believe he is going after me because my prayer life is more intense. I try to keep myself in the presence of the Lord through the rosary, Mass, Chaplet of Divine Mercy and Adoration. I also received a quote from a friend by ST. Theresa of Avila.

when the devil reminds you of your past, remind him of his future.

Get one of these blessed and keep it on when you sleep.

Hung one of those on my bedpost and never had any unpleasant episodes since.:bounce:

When I start to get the “willies” (where did that word ever come from, anyway 😃 ) ANYWAY - when I start to feel that way I say

“In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ my Savior be gone” and make the sign of the cross and immediately begin praying - anything - usually the Lord’s Prayer -

I read on the Catholic Spiritual Warfare (don’t have the address but you can google it) that even satan can call himself Jesus but he cannot utter the words Jesus Christ…

…so, my point is…when driving evil away, make sure you say “Jesus Christ” and not just “Jesus”.

Thank you guys very much for your replies.

It happened again last night, It felt like I was under attack. I know it sounds weird…and I’m not a superstitious person. I’m certain that something weird is happening. I live in habitual mortal sin (i’m sure it’s not hard to guess what sin that would be). I don’t know how to describe this, but it felt as if it would leave me alone if I would commit that sin…I didn’t. Who knows, maybe something is happening, and maybe something good will come out of it, maybe this might be the beginning of my greatest wish being granted…to stop offending God. REgardless of whether it happens again or not, I will trust that God will someday give me enough grace to resist temptation.

I’d like to encourage you to go to confession and then make every attempt to not recommit the sin until Sunday. Then, if you make it to Sunday, recommit to not sinning again until the following Sunday. Repeat this for the remainder of your life. And when you slip, find your way into the nearest confessional.

And, use the advice given to pray and keep Holy Water handy. They’re great tools against the evil one.

Dear friend

Every time you are tempted to commit a sin, it is an opportunity to practise virtue! Satan may be clever but he isn’t that bright, his efforts at temptation can ultimately lead to a cessation of sin by God’s grace.

CARose recommended you make a confession, so do I. I’m saying this because sometimes it helps a person to decide if more than one person offers the same advice. CARose’ advice is correct. I recommend that you make a confession of your life. I went through a terrible ordeal of satan tormenting me with sins and past sins, some I’d even forgotten or didn’t know at the time was a sin. This is what satan does, he mimmicks the Holy Spirit, convicting souls of their sins only he cannot provide the grace to repent, so he leads souls to believe their is no hope, he grinds them down with their sins and attempts to lead them into despair. In one confession this was stopped, I confessed in general terms that I had ‘broadly’ sinned against God and the Ten Commandments. Satan had nothing left to torment me with.

It doesn’t sound crazy, you are not crazy and it goes on all the time to those sincerely striving to follow Jesus. This is Spiritual Battle and you will not lose so long as you stay close to Jesus in His Sacraments and maintain a humble and repentant heart. God is merciful and He loves you. Satan hates you and all people, satan has no victory other than what we give him. He has no hope, he’s finished. Laugh in his face and do not allow him to steal your inner peace, the Peace of Christ Jesus.

You have resisted this sin once, by the grace of God. It will get easier and easier to resist sin every time you practise virtue by not falling into a particular sin by God’s grace. God has granted you this grace and you have embraced it. You have nothing to worry about or fear. Be strong in Christ Jesus.

You remain in my prayers

God Bless you and much love and peace to you

Teresa

Amen!!!

Springbreeze, your post is right on!

God will give you that grace. I spent 25-years away from the church and as I said, my soul had plenty of mortal sins upon it. Since coming back into the church 1 1/2 years ago God’s grace has strengthened me and I have not committed a mortal sin since. It can happen! But, as Springbreeze said, stay close to the sacraments. The sacraments are our armor in this battle and it IS a battle.

Cleanse your soul and receive the gift He has given us…Himself in the Eucharist…as often as you can.

God bless.
