Strawberry picking. stealing?

hi, today i went strawberry picking with my family. we were meant to pick the strawberries and pay for them in boxes. I picked and ate them (without paying). would that be considerd theft? if so is it sinful?

If you’ve picked the strawberries, and were meant to pay for them, but didn’t, it maybe possible that you have. Did you forget about the ones you ate until after paying? If so, there would be the issue with culpability. It would be best to check with your priest.

It might be expected at the farm where you picked the berries that some of them would be eaten without being paid for - a kind of unofficial policy. You might give them a call to check. How many did you eat, anyway?

a person i was with presumed the same thing.15-20 possibly more. honestly can’t remember 🤷

no, i presumed it would be expected for people to eat them at a farm though. yet not without a guilty conscience when doing so :confused:
 
next time you go there buy more than you need to make up for it. give them a good review or recommendation on facebook, to help their business.

Yes it’s theft and yes it’s sinful.
 
The strawberry farms I go to with my family allow you to eat as many as you like while you are picking. Just call them up and ask! If they don’t, pay 'em for the 15-20 strawberries you think you ate. Then confess it at the next confession.👍
