I have severe anxiety, particularly about talking to strangers and using the phone, and I want to call a local church to speak with a priest and possibly find out about RCIA, but my anxiety is holding me back. Please pray that I find the strength, if you can. I’m also second-guessing myself over whether this is something I want to do because I am afraid.

No worries Countless people do this. They will likely take your name and number and have the RCIA DIrector or priest call you back.
There’s no test. Be peace. Ask the Holy Spirit to help with your nervousness, but you will be fine.
Keep in mind that many parishes are closed during the Octave of Christmas. (the days between Christmas and New Years)
God bless you.

Should I wait to call in that case? Thank you very much for your kind words, they do help.

No go ahead and call, it’s just that if there’s no response or a slow response, it’s only due to the holiday.
Some people say they get discouraged if they don’t receive a call immediately. We get hundreds of calls. Sometimes I don’t get back to people for a couple of days myself.
I’ll pray for you! Keep us updated!

Prayer for the Journey of Faith

Father God, bless those who are moving forward
into the fullness of faith in You and full communion
in the life of our Catholic Family. Protect them on
their journey. Reveal to them the love of Your Son
Jesus. Empower them with the gifts of Your Holy
Spirit. In the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

I will pray for you, I used to have terrible anxiety and still did to a certain degree during rcia, I ended up meeting with my priest in addition to the rcia classes.

Anyways if you can I would suggest telling the rcia director or priest that you deal with anxiety during your first conversation.
That’s what I did and doing so paid off in the long run; and actually helped with anxiety, the people who ran rcia and the priest where so kind and understanding.

I’m now Catholic and anxiety free.

Hail Mary,
Full of grace,
The Lord is with Thee.
Blessed art Thou amongst women,
and blessed is the fruit of Thy womb,
Jesus
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
Pray for us sinners,
Now and at the hour of death,
Amen

O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fountain of Mercy for us, I trust in You!

Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, Amen.

Eternal Father, I offer you the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your Dearly Beloved Son, Our Lord, Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.

For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.

Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world.

I understand perfectly! I was terrified to contact the parish about RCIA. Just keep in mind what your goal is. It is so very much worth making that call!

RCIA is the most welcoming ministry out there. Try not to worry, and just go wtih it! You won’t regret it.
