I recently found out I was pregnant, and have already started stressing out about it. I am very excited, as I have wanted this for a long time, but I am so worried my anxiety is going to cause a miscarriage or hurt the baby. I tend to be a negative thinker and think in all or nothing terms. Please let me know if you were stressed out during pregnancy and went on to have a healthy baby. I need some reassurance! Thanks!

I had immense anxiety issues - especially during my 2nd pregnancy. All of my children have been born 100% healthy.

Consider seeing a counselor - I did during that pregnancy and I think it did help to talk things out. Also talk to your doctor. There ARE medications that are safe to take during pregnancy and have a very long track record of safety… talk to your doc. 😉

Good luck and you’ll be in my prayers… I definitely sympathize.

Thanks for your reply. Do you know what drugs might be safe during pregnancy? Or any foods/supplements that can have calming effects? My first appt isn’t until the 24th.

Medical advice is not allowed on the forums… I’ll PM you. 🙂

The computer I’m on (library) has a pop up blocker or somthing, so I can’t recieve it. Thanks though. I will try when I am on my home computer 🙂

You can get your PMs by clicking on “messages” near the top right of the forum page…same place it lists the thread you are looking at…hope that helps!

Chamomile tea… and fennel tea was what I used to destress to go to bed at night… there is alot to be said for these old time home remedies…

I have been stressed during all my pregnancies. My first I was an unmarried, unemployed college student. My second I was working full time in a male-dominated field. My third came along two months after #3 was born so that was enough, lol! And then there was #4, but by that time I guess I was pretty relaxed about the whole thing.

They have all been perfectly healthy babies, and I had completely uneventful births.

I even read once that a mother who experiences stress during a pregnancy have babies who are actually healthier…probably no coorelation, but if it makes you feel better…

This isn’t medical advice, but chamomile tea is great, and make sure you are getting enough B vitamin. Those things helped me.

i really stressed in my third pregnancy as i had miscarried the year before but she was perfect:)
