BJ,

Thanks for this; it made me smile this morning!

I am currently in the process of losing the baby weight that I gained with my 4 week old daughter. I am face to mirror with those lovely stretch marks every day.

I know Iā€™m not looking my physical best (will be soon, though) but my husband has been great about making me feel pretty anyway.

Men are great!

No, they are not. I have them and the stretched stomach to boot.

Iā€™m with ya Lily. Sexy is not the word I would use to describe them!

Noā€¦not the word I would use either;)

Annunciata, LOL!!! šŸ˜ƒ They are a part of life supposeā€¦ We get used to them, but to say they are sexy???
I donā€™t think so!!! :o

Well, to each his own. Some men may think they are on their particular spouse. Personally speaking, I donā€™t find Tom Cruise especially appealing-but other women swoon over him. So, I guess everyone has a differing opinion. šŸ™‚

Ok, maybe not to others. But Maybe Hubby thinks differently. Sure you wont see stretch marks on Victoria Secrets models.
Consider this.
  1. Love is the most attractive thing about a spouse. The more obvious or deep the love the more attractive.
  2. I think this also = sexy.
  3. The blessings of children are the greastest sign of Love.
  4. Physical attributes resulting from 3) are a outward sign of that Love.
That is why I find my wifes physical signs of Wife & mother sexy!

I guess I can understand how you might not think that. I wonder if you are conveying that attitude to your husband? And if you are, I wonder what kind of reaction you might be engendering?

Why is it we become upset with how others react to us, when their reaction is in part caused by how we react to ourselves?

Right! Weā€™ve been conditioned to see the world through Walt-Disney goggles. Where the world is just the way we want to imagine it is. Of 'course we set ourselves up for dissappointment.

How 'bout this? Ever consider baked beans and bread a meal fit for a king? Get up before dawn some day. Bust your butt working really hard in the worst weather. Come in at the end of the day and have a loving mother or wife serve you homemade baked beans and homemade bread. I swear - youā€™ll never taste anything sooo good. ā€œHard work makes the best sauceā€ I think is the saying.

Kimberly Hahn says that Scott told her all women who have stretch marks from bearing their babies will probably have those same scars in the ressurectionā€“wounds born for Christ!!! šŸ™‚ Itā€™s only been recently that Iā€™ve begun to think thatā€™s sort of beautifulā€¦the other part of me is sadly still like, umā€¦ew.

this is truly a problem in the media! this is why young women have eating disorders! BIG IS BEAUTIFUL! only dogs want a bone! my man is taller but thinner than i am. hes been an athlete his whole life. the only thing that matters is hes got no problem throwing me over his shoulder and cave manning me into what ever room he wants me in! it works out great! he like having a little more to hold on to, and i love his cute tooshy! oposites attract in a most delicious way!

Lily,
When a new doctor asks you ā€œand what sort of operation left that mark?ā€ā€¦(and I didnā€™t have a C-section):crying: ā€¦yeh, I have to live w/ themā€¦maybe my first husband appreciated them since he was the father of my childrenā€¦but present hubbie? Iā€™ve never askedā€¦but they sure are ugly!!!
Well he does loves me for my mind ā€¦:whacky:   .
Annunciata:D

I wish someone (my mother?, my doctor?) would have told me about cocoa butter. Here I am 41 years later and theyā€™re STILL there - obviously, forever in this life. Well, at least the blue fades over time. I will have to say though, as awful as Iā€™ve always considered the things, Iā€™d do it all over again even with the same yucky skin result! šŸ˜ƒ

I donā€™t think that women should aspire to look like models but I have a problem with the ā€˜big is beautifulā€™ message, as well.

I think that we, as Godā€™s creations, are called to take good care of ourselves and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

I do have stretch marks, and tons of em, but they are much less noticable on a flat stomach and I am not as self conscious about them. NOT that my stomach is flat (yet) as I am 4 weeks postpartum but hopefully by Christmastime I will be back to normal.

Hope this didnā€™t offend.

P.S. Jacque, does this apply to sagging breasts from nursing three children, also? šŸ˜ƒ

ok, ok, ā€¦ letā€™s get a grip on this thread, but please donā€™t pull too hard, it might leave strā€¦ forget itā€¦ šŸ‘

bless your heart, black jaque - from your mouth to Godā€™s ears šŸ™‚

i wear mine as my triumph during childbirth. while i donā€™t particularly find them lovely or sexy or any other words denoting admiration, i earned 'em. they are mine. they will not go away. they follow me everywhere.

whatā€™s a girl to do?
