Struggles with Allegations

The abuse allegations are a sad fact of people being human … and not all humans are good and decent people … they have nothing to do with my staying Catholic, because the larger percentage of priests are good and decent men who work hard to bring our religion to us … God Bless them.
 
We can also compare it to the government of a country. Yesterday was the anniversary in USA of President Nixon resigning. Nixon did bad things. A lot of his staff and others in public office at that time, like his VP, also did bad things.

Did we all say, “that’s it, USA is over, we’re all going to move, or secede and set up a new government”?
No, we just cleaned house, put in hopefully better leaders, and moved on with life.

Same here. The leader does not make up the institution. The people in it make up the institution and the leaders are just the people at the head of the group.
