I think that you are mistaken that Pope Francis or a majority of the bishops support “unrestricted migration.” The media often takes their statements out of context.

If I come to a fork in the road and you tell me I cannot go left you pretty much leave me with no option but to go right. If the bishops support a policy that pretty much admits anyone who gets here, whether they call it that or not, they are supporting unrestricted migration.

The Bishop of Dallas was just in El Paso, visiting a center.
The Rev. Robert Stark, Pope Francis’ representative from the Vatican’s Migrant and Refugees Section, on Saturday called for El Paso-area parishioners to help immigrants and to defend the Catholic Church’s right to migrate.

Stark encouraged parishioners to defend and advocate for the Catholic Church’s “fundamental” rights to migrate, to not migrate if people choose to stay in their homelands and to seek refuge.

“We are called to defend these basic rights,” he said. “It’s immoral to criminalize people seeking refuge and asylum and separate their families.”

Stark called on the parishioners to recognize, respect and promote these rights.

Stark was in El Paso on Friday and Saturday to participate in the Weekend of Solidarity with Migrants by the Diocesan Commission on Migration and the Hope Border Network to support immigrants, especially those impacted by the federal government’s “zero tolerance” policy.
It would be more productive if, instead of criticizing our rules about how to enter the country properly, and the way we handle things when people try to bypass those rules, it would be better if they turned their eye to the government corruption and gang violence that is causing all these people to make dangerous journeys and put their families in peril in the first place.

But I don’t know what the Central American bishops are doing to make a difference in their home territories, or what the American bishops are doing to help them make things better at the root of the issue.

I also fail to understand this as well.
And Jesus answering, said to them: Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s. And they marveled at him.
Illegal immigration is illegal. Why disregard this? When the United States Bishops condemned the separation of children from their parents, did they not realize these parents were breaking a just law? Of course we should be kind and welcoming, but perhaps our laws should be respected first.

If we look to Sweden, where border laws are very lax, we can see it has done them no good.

Is it a just law?

You realize there is a difference between breaking a civil law and committing a felony, right?
Yes, it is a just law. We need to know who is coming into our country before letting them in all willy nilly.
I’d not trust the OAN, look for a source with high standards of professional journalism. Heck, snopes has even been able to debunk it!

FACT CHECK: Crime in Sweden, Part I: Is Sweden the ‘Rape Capital’ of Europe?

Claims that Sweden leads the world in sexual assault and rape are not supported by data.
I don’t think it was ever said that Sweden is the rape capital of Europe. It was reported that due to unchecked immigration, Sweden is becoming increasingly more dangerous.
