Hi CAF people, can you please help me out with some advice? I am lacking any motivation right now and I am getting nothing done except the bare, bare minimum. Our situation is we are living abroad and my husband is currently applying for a new job. So we really don’t know where we will be or when in the coming weeks or months. It means it feels impossible to plan things as we may need to get on a plane for an interview oversees at any time.

I am not depressed and all our family are thriving - thank you Lord. I am just getting nothing done. My husband has work and my kids school but I cannot seem to get interested in anything except obsessively looking at houses on-line in areas we may move to.

I usually say the rosary each day with the kids and I haven’t done so for a few days. Bad mommy. My motivation for everything is zero. I am feeling like a big fat zero to be honest! I know I should trust in the Lord and I am doing my best. What say you?

I think I am stressed.

I say that sometimes there is nothing wrong with doing “nothing”. Read a book, watch a movie. Enjoy the time of “nothingness” because some of us with too much on our plate would trade you for a little down time.

If you want to do something, then start sorting and planning for the move (give away, pack, etc).

My family is in the exact same boat, so thanks for posting this. We are likely moving by June, possibly (hopefully) 1000 miles away, but can’t seem to get anything nailed down. It is difficult, I agree, to always be in “limbo” and not feel like you’re really living your real life.

What I have found helpful is to live in the moment and to not be afraid to commit to things, like a regular church for Mass, a regular place for your kids to play, getting to know the neighbors, being involved in school. It may last 2 weeks, 2 months, or 2 years, but either way you are at least living as best you can where you are right now rather than waiting to live.
