For years, I’ve had an inconsistent budget, not always saving the money that I earn…buying material things to fill my emotional insecurities…it only leaves me feeling dissatisfied & empty. God knows I struggle daily to trust Him with my life…I’m afraid of letting go of the steering wheel, not knowing what will happen. And when it does, I don’t know how to react or what to do to prepare for the unknown. It’s like I know what I need to do, but not sure how to actually stop it all & just give Him the pen…like I’m waiting for the right time to stop, but should just end it now. I realize that this will be perhaps a gradual process, but it needs to be regulated before it gets worse.

Instead of praying for myself, because I feel selfish doing that, could anyone pray about this for me? And any advice/ideas to prepare for a simple budget would be helpful. Thanks for your time.

Holy Mary, conceive without sin, pray for us who have recourse to Thee.
Holy Mary, conceive without sin, pray for us who have recourse to Thee.
Holy Mary, conceive without sin, pray for us who have recourse to Thee.

AMEN

Prayer to Our Mother of Perpetual Help

Mother of Perpetual Help, grant that I may ever invoke thy most powerful name, which is the safeguard of the living and the salvation of the dying. O Purest Mary, O Sweetest Mary, let thy name henceforth be ever on my lips. Delay not, O Blessed Lady, to help me whenever I call on thee, for, in all my needs, in all my temptations I shall never cease to call on thee, ever repeating thy sacred name, Mary, Mary.

We don’t give advice on this forum. It’s just for prayer. I would direct you to the family life forum for in-depth advice. God bless you.

O Christ Jesus,
when all is darkness
and we feel our weakness and helplessness,
give us the sense of Your presence,
Your love, and Your strength.
Help us to have perfect trust
in Your protecting love
and strengthening power,
so that nothing may frighten or worry us,
for, living close to You,
we shall see Your hand,
Your purpose, Your will through all things.
Amen ✞

Praying to the Holy Spirit to give you guidance, direction, strength, fortitude & wisdom in your time of neec. Remember; Let Go & Let God.

Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou amongst women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Prayer to Our Lady of Mental Peace

O Lady of Mental Peace,
Mother of Tranquility
and Mother of Hope,
look upon KiwiBliss in this time
of weakness and unrest.

Teach her searching heart
to know that God’s Love
for her is unchanging and
unchangeable, and, that
true human love can only
begin and grow by touching
His Love.

Let your gentle Peace -
which this world cannot give
  • be always with her.
And, help her to bring this
    same Peace into the lives
    of others.
Our Lady of Mental Peace,
  • Pray for us!
    Amen.
Jesus, Help Me!

In every need let me come to You with humble trust,
saying:
Jesus, help me!
In all my doubts, perplexities, and temptations:
Jesus, help me!
In hours of loneliness, weariness and trials:
Jesus, help me!
In the failure of my plans and hopes, in disappointments,
troubles and sorrows:
Jesus, help me!
When others fail me, and Your Grace alone can assist me:
Jesus, help me!
When I throw myself on Your tender Love as Savior:
Jesus, help me!
When my heart is cast down by failure, at seeing no good
come from my efforts:
Jesus, help me!
When I feel impatient, and my cross irritates me:
Jesus, help me!
When I am ill, and my head and hands cannot work and
I am lonely:
Jesus, help me!

Always, always, in spite of weakness, falls and short-
comings of every kind:
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, help me and never forsake me!

Amen

Will pray for you! :gopray2:

In the USA, many banks will reimburse at least part of the “tuition” for a financial planning course, such as Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University. At our bank, we had to attend at least 7 of the 9 classes to get credit, and then the bank reimbursed 50% of our cost. That might be something worth checking into.

Meanwhile, the way I started doing a simple budget was this:
  1. Figure out the cost of all “essentials” needed for this month (or pay period). This includes shelter (rent/mortgage), utilities, food/groceries, gasoline/transportation, household supplies, clothing/shoes, and any minimum payments for things like student loans, credit cards, etc. It may also include things particular to that month, such as birthday gifts, minor household repair (if I can’t do it myself), or car maintenance.
  2. Give myself some “fun money” for entertainment, extras, unplanned eating out, and spending on whatever else I want. I also find out what free events and activities are going on that month in my area. I get bored rather easily and tend to spend money just to have something to do, so knowing what I can do without spending much (if anything) is VERY helpful to me.
  3. Add in Giving (to Church, charities, etc.).
  4. Subtract the totals from my income. Adjust where necessary so I’m not spending more than I make. Send off bills immediately (so I’m not tempted to “steal from Peter to pay Paul”) and place my “fun money” cash into an envelope in my purse. Leave credit cards and debit card in my locked safe at home so I’m not tempted to use them impulsively (actually, we cut up our credit cards and paid them off as quickly as we could).
  5. Put any remaining income in savings account and/or use to pay down debts.
Later, I changed “Giving” to #1. That takes a lot of trust, so you might not be prepared to do that just yet (but if you are, go for it!). Keep praying, asking God to help you learn to trust in Him.

As much as possible, think about a purchase before making a decision–especially about what else you might be giving up–and think about ways you might be able to cut the cost of something to make it more affordable (“Wait, if I stop and get pizza now, I won’t have enough tomorrow for that game I really want. Instead, I could buy some shredded cheese and make homemade pizza, and still have enough for the game…”).

I used to also use cash envelopes for gasoline and groceries, as well. And I do flexible menu plans, and use a shopping list program to get a good estimate for how much the groceries will cost so I can stay on-budget.

Hope you find some of that helpful! 🙂

**O Blessed Mother of God,
who went up to the Temple according to the law
with your offering of little white doves,
pray for me that I too may keep the law
and be pure in heart like you.

Sweet heart of Mary,
be my salvation.

Amen.**
