Struggling with anger

Hi everybody. I was diagnosed with schizophrenia a few years back and I really struggle with impulse control and have anger issues. I work out everyday I pray the rosary constantly I take medications and go to therapy and I still struggle with intense anger. It scare my family and I feel so guilty. Please pray for me. I don’t want to harm anybody. Have I possibly blasphemed the Holy Spirit and now God is punishing me. Please help. God bless you.

Your schizophrenia is NOT God punishing you. We live in a tainted world because of our fallen human nature so terrible things like this can happen. There is such a thing as temporal punishment, but I don’t think schizophrenia is a part of that at all, as it is a genetic illness and some people develop it as very young children. To blaspheme the Holy Spirit is to deliberately despair of your salvation so unless you’ve done that, you haven’t and any sin can be repented of in this life–even that one and far worse.

Because we are so weak, we are entitled to God’s mercy! Try to see your weakness as an occasion for humility and trust in Jesus. The greater your weakness, the greater right you have in going to Jesus like a little child, trusting in Him entirely, Who said: “Without Me you can do nothing.” … “But with Him all things are possible.”

It took St. Francis de Sales many years to control his anger. Don’t be discouraged; just do your best to love God, and if you fall, accept the fact with humility and trust in God’s mercy. That way, God is glorified and you will gain more than you lost, because God is always close to a humble soul.

I didn’t realize there were saints who struggled with anger issues. Your prayers comfort me. I will trust in Jesus through all my trials and tribulations.

Do that!

St. Jerome is a good saint to pray to for this, as well, as he struggled with this issue as well. Though it was hard work, he became a saint! I will bring you to him and pray for you.
 
St Jerome I’ll look him up! I’ve been praying for Padre Pio who I’m absolutely fascinated by. I’ve been praying the rosary a ton thanks to him!

Thanks everybody. Your prayers and wisdom mean very much to me. I notice the things that annoy me tend to annoy other people as we’ll i simply overreact.

O, Sacred Heart of Jesus,
filled with Infinite Love,
broken by our ingratitude,
and pierced by our sins,
yet loving us still,
accept the consecration we make to Thee
of all that we are and all that we have.

Your prayers are helping I feel the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Yesterday was a rough day but today I feel alright. Thanks again!
