Struggling with Chaste (HELP!)

Hello, I am a 15 year old Catholic male who is currently struggling with the mortal sin of masturbation. I have a fictional character who is a male, and I unfortunately have constant erotic thoughts about this character and am struggling NOT TO perform the mortal sin of masturbation. I recently stopped masturbation after I found out it is sinful, however, in the middle of the night, I remember waking up, with no thought, and commiting the mortal sin without thinking of the lord (only thought of it after), is this a sin? Please, please help, I am driven crazy trying to conform to the laws of Catholicism, and want to form a close bond with the Lord, and not be condemned to endless suffering.

Are you saying you temporarily forgot that what you were doing was a sin/mortal sin?

That happens to me a lot…I never knew what to do. I unfortunately don’t know if that is a sin. I know there are a lot of users on here who have struggled with those particular sins, though, they might be able to help.

If you are struggling with impurity, I would suggest praying the rosary often, or asking Our Lady to help you.
