I’m looking for Catholic perspectives on how to do deal with lust, especially to fetishes that lie outside the norm. What can be done in dealing with these, as they can be isolating and problematic?

Without being graphic, what are you talking about. I mean, like what’s going on?
Are you married or single?
How old are you?

Avoid occassions of sin, have a devotion to the Virgin Mary (such as praying the Rosary and wearing the Brown Scapular), and go to Confession.

The Catholic perspective is really Jesus’ perspective in that lust is a very serious sin. As Jesus said when one lusts he already commits adultery in his heart. The gift that God gave us in our sexualtiy is meant to be expressed within the context of marriage. I’m not sure exactly what you consider a fetish but again any thoughts of lust can be sinful. So, pray and seek counsel from those who perhaps struggle with the same issues as yourself. Never cease to pray and ask God for the grace to overcome temptation and to gain a perfect love for Jesus Christ.

We all struggle in this area and we all fail at times. Your bio says that you are Christian and does not specify if you are a Catholic Christian. If you are then seek the Sacrament of Reconciliation. It is a Sacrament of healing and will be of immense help in dealing with this issue. If you are not a Catholic Christian then continue to repent of your sin and never cease in your prayers…God Bless…teachccd 🙂

I’m currently a non-Catholic Christian, though I am interested in the Catholic Church. I am always interested in hearing different view points from different church denominations. What drives me is a desire to follow Christ, and I worry about certain temptations that could threaten that focus, so I’m always looking advice from fellow Christians. Thanks.

Great! Well hopefully more posters will be able to help you in this thread and never hesitate to come here for our perspectives on any topic. Yes, when Peter lost focus on Jesus he sank and Jesus had to reach out and save him. How many times are we loosing focus and sinking. Thank God that His mercy is infinite for those who seek it. Keep up the good fight and God bless you…teachccd 🙂

I certainly won’t hesitate to ask or seek perspectives. Great advice so far.
