Struggling with how to love

Considering that today is Easter (alleluia! He is Risen), I’ve noticed how much God loves his children. His love is beautiful and I want to understand how to love, because I notice that I fail many times at truly loving myself and others.

Any good books? Articles? Advice? Anything would be appreciated

I don’t know the exact answer, but I suffer much as you do. I often feel the hardness of my own heart. I think it is because I built a wall around it to protect myself from emotional pain in the past. I got so good at it, that it is very difficult now to soften it. I pray for that softness every day, and the prayers help. I feel empathy much more, but I am far from being completely healed. Perseverance is the answer. Letting go of the past, letting go of pride seem to help.

I’ve just read Learning to Love as the Saints Love, and found it insightful.
