Im not sure that I’m in a good place after having recieved my first communion. I think I had these expectations of being this totally transformed person, and i don’t deny that has happened, the lack of consolation and apparent change has me feeling desolate and confused. I have also worried that maybe I recieved the communion unworthily, even though I went to confession on Tuesday and am not aware of any mortal sin. I guess the one sin I might be guilty of is not being diligent enough with prayer and preparation and presuming that communion and confirmation would erase all my selfishness and acedia.

I’m now going to have easter brunch with my protestant famy, and I wanted to ask for your prayer, that I wouldn’t be despondent and trust in Jesus. Because if I am all despondent and neurotic, they’ll see that and perhaps be tempted to think that there isn’t much to Catholicism after all.

I also wanted to ask for prayer for two other people I know who are homeless and destitute, that they would find hope and provision from God.

Lord Jesus, please touch and guide the heart of this child of yours. We rejoice for the fact that he/she has receive You sacramentally through Holy Communion. May you please protect him/her from all temptations and doubts from the evil one. May he/she be strong in his/her faith and continue to grow with the faith, that she may be a good example to her family and others…

In Jesus name we pray…AMEN

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit
As it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be world without end AMEN

Gracious and merciful Father, please come to their assistance.

Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

Glory Be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
Amen.

I will petition St. Philip Neri for the gift of joy for you and for those whom you know.

Praying for you. From my own experience (I’m a one-year Catholic), you might like to look at this as the start of your journey. I know I feel different now than I did a year ago, when I was confirmed as a Catholic, after 50 years of being an Anglican.

Don’t despair! You have come home. 🙂

Joining in this beautiful prayer…

Mary.

Praying to the Holy Spirit to give you guidance, direction, strength, fortitude & wisdom in your time of need.

St. Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the Devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,
and do thou,
O Prince of the heavenly hosts,
by the power of God,
thrust into hell Satan,
and all the evil spirits,
who prowl about the world
seeking the ruin of souls. Amen

Praying for you of course. Being the only Catholic in the family can be trying at times, and emotions come and go.I think this is probably one reason Christ gave us sacraments, so we could be sure and not depend on emotions. We are all on a journey, and a lot of it seems to be uphill. Take heart, though, he is with you and knows how tough things are sometimes. He’s been there. There will be better times.

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Bdonoho,
Welcome to the Church! I was told some time ago that faith is like a plant- you have to water it and provide it with light a little bit everyday for it to grow big and strong. For your faith to grow, you need to read the bible, pray, say the rosary a little bit everyday and your faith will grow and fill you up. Maybe it’s only a bible passage to ponder. Maybe it’s only a decade of the rosary. Think about that bible passage while you clean the kitchen or prepare dinner. Make a point to talk to your RCIA sponsor to continue to ask questions. Read Scott Haan and his wife and the books of other Protestants who have converted. Your faith will be as strong as a Redwood before you know it!

As a cradle Catholic, I find that my faith waxes and wanes at different times of my life. When I find it dipping a little low I reflect on whether I’ve been tending to it enough. I usually find that I have not.

Blessings to you!

O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fount of mercy for us, I trust in You!

Jesus, I trust in You!

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, I trust in You!

Amen.

Eternal God , in whom mercy is endless,
and the treasury of compassion inexhaustible ,
look kindly upon us and increase Your mercy in us ,
that in difficult moments we might not despair
nor become despondent , but with great confidence ,
submit ourselves to Your Holy Will ,
which is love and mercy itself . Amen

Said a prayer that you have the strength and courage to stay the course, regardless of your feelings. Some people don’t have the big “WOW” moment when they receive a sacrament, but that doesn’t mean there wasn’t a transformation within. Sometimes when you are on the right track, the devil will attack and try to make you doubtful. Also said a prayer for the other people you requested prayers for…

St. Michael the Archangel,
Defend us in battle. Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do you, o’ prince of the heavenly hosts,
By the power of God thrust into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls.

Holy Michael the Archangel defend us in the day of battle.
Be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,
and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host,
by the Power of God,
thrust down to hell satan and all the wicked spirits,
who wander through the world for the ruin of souls.
Amen.

Remember, O most loving Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession and was left forsaken. Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto you, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To you I come, before you I stand, a sorrowful sinner. Despise not my words, O Mother of the Word, but in your mercy, hear and answer me.
Amen

Praying for you to realize that even though you have converted to the Catholic faith-daily life continues with our usual struggles and conflicts. As another poster said this is the beginning of your journey. Praying that you will be patient with yourself as you integrate your new faith with your daily life. Praying that you will have the desire to continue learning about Catholicism and the history and the saints and doctors of the Church. I converted almost 7 years ago now.
