Student gets F grade for mentioning God

I’m not a bit shocked. Saddened, but not shocked.

Fortunately, I’ve always had professors who were willing to give my opinions in papers a chance, so long as I backed up what I said. However, I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve heard other people complain about getting failing grades on papers for explicating their opinions. Sometimes, the papers really are bad. But other times, you can tell the grade is just from the professor’s intolerance, because there is no explanation as to why there’s a big, fat F on the paper, with the exception of a nasty note about the expressed opinion being wrong.

The opinions I see that earn failing grades aren’t always necessarily pro-American, or Christian views, though. They just frequently are.

Tried the link above but it is apparently closed…so…

Christians should start talking about God in code.

Or, even if we don’t, pretend there is a code. Drop nonsensical word pairs in other forums where they knew we are Christian. Repeat the same parings often. Greet each other with them. “Balsic Sed!”…“Lobal Sien!”

Drive the atheists nuts trying to find something which isn’t there.

There are advantages to being on the Baptist Buckle of the Protestant Bible Belt. Our medical terminology instructor (at a state-funded community college) openly referred to the human embryo as a “person” and passed around a model of a 10-week fetus so everyone could see how human it is–not a blob of tissue at all.

Made me feel good about the future of academia, at least locally.

What you’ve got here is a self-important person teaching part-time at a community college, who has such blatant disregard for his students that he refuses to acknowledge any other viewpoint than his narrow-minded one.

I also teach English composition at a community college and I’ve sat through faculty meetings in which the department head refers to the “idiocy” of people objecting to profanity in the classroom. Another adjunct explained that he is just trying to “enlighten” people. Enlighten them to what, I’d like to know?

This sounds just like a English Teacher I had at Valley College in San Bernardino… He wrote for Playboy and wanted us to write a paper stating OUR OPINIONS on pornography… For or against it, and what helps come to the opinions we have. We where told we were NOT allowed to bring God into it. If we did we failed. I wonder if it is the same guy. I didn’t keep his name in my mind.

Even if God is what mostly helps you come to that opinion? Sounds like a real class act.

It seems people who preach faith are far more tolerant than those who preach tolerance.

I thank God we have been able to homeschool for the past two years, this is a sad state of affairs. Sure, it would be great to say we could stay in the system and change it but I’m not going to waste my children’s time and education on this junk. Pray for homeschoolers, we have a huge responsibility! It is amazing how many of my friends have decided to educate their children at home this year, and they are from *various *Christian denomonations.

I noticed the link to the instructors email. So I sent an email (intended to be charitable in tone) giving a few invocations and the Angel’s pray for conversion (at Fatima).

Maybe this is a golden opportunity to witness to him the joy experienced from knowing God.
