Curious how most of you incorporate your study of the catechism into your daily Bible reading and prayer life.

I’m a new Catholic (became Catholic at Easter vigil) and know very little about the catechism.

Well I know what it is and its been referred to a few times at RCIA and in various books, videos etc. But I have never studied it.

Does anyone know of any online course, reading plan or book that acts as a guide to the Catechism for new Catholics?

Alex

I read from the Bible, especially the New Testament, and from the Catechism of the Catholic Church. And then try to apply what I read to life. It is not easy. But the challenge is worthwhile.

Reading the Didache Bible helps get us into the Catechism more frequently.

Not sure what would be best. You could try this series of booklets from the Knights of Columbus:
http://www.kofc.org/en/cis/booklets.html#/hart/1/20

This will say CCC 12 or whatever when it is referencing the catechism.

Or maybe you’d like the compendium of the catechism. That is Benedict’s short version in question and answer format:
http://www.vatican.va/archive/compendium_ccc/documents/archive_2005_compendium-ccc_en.html#“I%20believe”%20–%20“We%20believe”

In the compendium, be sure to note the numbers on the upper left of the questions. Those are paragraph references to the catechism itself.

When a question occurs I generally look at both the ‘Subject Index’ of the catechism and the ‘Index Analyticus’ to point to the most relevant paragraphs and go from there.

I try to answer Protestant objections by using the Bible and the Catechism.

I am planning to convert to Catholicism. Once I read the Catechism, I understood the faith much more and this strengthened my prayer life and knowledge of the Bible.

I heard Cardinal Arinze say that he read two pages from the Catechism every day.

The Catechism footnotes link to Scripture, it is wonderful to just start at the beginning and read through.

I would also suggest the US Catechism for Adults.
