Stupid freakin' blasted insurance companies! (a major rant)

More than 50% of all medical dollars are wasted. Typically 2 of every 3 dollars are wasted. The money is spent to fend off lawsuits or in lawsuits. Try buying a Tylenol at your local emergency room. There are 2 options 1) allow the system to become governmental thus practically ending law suites, or 2) drop most of the regulation allowing a return to the public information standard - you can only sue if information was with held.

Insurance companies are simply in the middle of a bad situation.

mschrank is incorrect in opining that Communism and Christianity exist in separate worlds. The Catholic church is in fact the only organization which has made the economic system of communism work. We have been at it for over 1500 years. We call it “religious orders.” The basic economic tenet of “from each according to his means to each according to his needs” is part of the foundation of any religious order. The “means of production” belong to the society in general and not to any one person. It may not be couched in those terms, but the day to day functioning of a religious house depends on it nevertheless.

Although sharing to accommodate the needs of all may be a trait shared by both communism and Catholicism, isn’t a basic tenent of communism the denial of an Almighty God? God is not a part of their equation…nor is compassion, wisdom, etc. Also, those who are called to religious life have a choice of whether or not they enter religious life whereas communism is a way of life that is forced on people. A lot of Catholics have died at the hands of communists, haven’t they? The two idealogies still seem to be polar opposites.

Communism and Christianity are worlds apart morally, spiritually and even economically. Where The Church teaches each to give to another human according to one’s means, abilities and one’s own moral conscience, Communism demands that everyone give to the state according to the demands of state and irrespective if one has anything to give or not and irrespective if one is starving themselves.

Christianity respects the individual and appeals to moral conscience and Communism respects only doctrine and appeals to force and penalty of law and serves itself. Communism is therefore morally flawed and corrupt.

I am not sure if this is how a Communist would describe it, although I tend to agree that in practice, this is the result. Communism supposedly promotes a classless society, by shared ownership of the means of production. The working class is supposed to replace the wealthy class in an attempt to avoid the problems associated with capitalism and war profiteering.
