**Ok, please don’t laugh at me, I really don’t know the answer:blush:

What exactly is “Tiber Swim team” and “I swam the Tiber” etc ? I know it refers to conversion, but what, specifically, does it mean?

Thanks in advance for not laughing at me:p:D**

It’s for the people who converted. They “swam the Tiber” when they became Catholic. 😃

Rome lies on the Tiber river. Crossing the Tiber, such as Julius Caesar during the Roman Civil War, is entering the city, and in Roman times was the boundary that the Legions were not allowed to cross.

Ahhhhh, that makes sense. Thank you:)**

Except unlike Caesar, we really cross the Tiber 😃

You got good answers!!! (And there is no such thing as a stupid question - I have asked all of them already:) 😃 🙂 )

What if someone doesn’t like swimming? Is there a bridge or something…a row boat even?😛

I guess this means I crossed the Tiber in '05… but I sure as heck didn’t swim!😃

Ok…trying to come up with a clever response - perhaps something about walking on water?

I’m sure any method would be fine, since it’s a metaphorical Tiber in this case, anyway.😛

**Oh goody!!! Then how about

“I tap danced across the Tiber in pontoon float-y shoes in '05”

or

“I pole vaulted across the Tiber in '05”

or

(my personal favorite) “I floated across the Tiber in my LazyBoy recliner in '05”

no? ok, I’ll keep working on it:p:D**

Heyyy! Don’t feel bad!! It took like 6 mos before I figured out what the whole “Swam the Tiber” thing was all about… 😛
And yea, no such thing as a stupid question… 🙂

Malia, when I first started seeing the phrase “Tiber Swim Team” I kept thinking, “Wow, so many people on the forum went to the same High School”:blushing:

Anyone besides me feel like they were dragged across kicking and screaming?

I mean I seriously felt like God had hit me over the head with a 2 x 4 and left me very little choice.

Tiber Swim Team '05
