Sudden Death of our 13 Year Old Daughter

Your husband IS amazing–no doubt a tribute to the love all of you share and that binds you together to this very moment. I have a friend with a daughter McKayla’s age who discovered several years ago a potentially fatal condition (brain aneurysm) in her child and corrected it before it caused damage. If you are able to share the results of any medical condition McKayla had, her “purpose” (beyond being loved by and loving you) will live on, literally, for years, maybe forever. Bless all of you for your strength in uniting your suffering with others and trying to spare other families this suffocating grief.

I also have a 13 year old daughter at home, and I can’t even fathom your loss. Know that your child plays now at the feet of Christ. Prayers are with you.

Heaven is a place where your fondest dreams come true. It is a place of pure, spotless beauty; a place where all come together to praise God in His glorious Light. Imagine McKayla in that glorious light!
It is a place where the universe is ours for the taking; a place where you can fly; where you can run and never get weary. It is filled with fellowship, with love, with companionship; most of all, a place to be with Jesus in his infinite love.
Your daughter is experiencing what all of us long for - HOME. You miss her and you always will, but you will be home with her when you cross over. You have that hope that so much of the world lacks - you KNOW your daughter is home and you KNOW you’re going there, too.
I am praying for you in your unimaginable grief and sorrow. I know it is so hard to give your precious daughter up. Maybe this will help…your daughter will never know sorrow or tears or heartbreak, she will only experience joy and happiness.

Is it like earth - but better … when (if) i get up there will she be 13? Will we know each other … will she know that I am her mother?

I am freaking about this!

Hi All:

I am desperately asking for prayers from all of you … our daughter McKayla went to environmental camp on this past Monday - and we got a call that she passed out. When we finally drove three hours to see her at the hospital, she had already been commended into the arms of our heavenly Father.

We are heart broken. We had her wake last night - and over 1100 people attened … it was over six hours at the wake … we buried her today — the pain is too much to bear at times.

Please, our Catholic Answers Friends, keep the Geisinger’s in your prayers … McKayla is our heavenly angel that left us for a better place … but we are left with hearts that are broken.

Please keep her Sister Amanda in your prayers … she is only a year older than her sister - they were like twins and best friends. We are beside ourselves.

Her funeral was amazing though … and she has been an instrument in bringing many people to Christ … for this we are grateful.

Please keep the Geisinger’s in your prayers … we miss her terribly and our hearts are just so very sad 😦 Ask God to help us pick up the pieces … our communities and the schools have been amazing and it has been such a humbling experience!

In heaven we will all have glorified bodies. While the apostles and disciples did not immediately recognize Jesus after the Resurrection, they came to know that it was He who had been raised.
With all the knowledge God will impart on us when we get to heaven, it is unfathomable to think that one would not even recognize his or her own parents. Yes, McKayla will know you, and you will know her. In fact, you will be one with her in an even more special way than the bond as mother and daughter.

She is praying for you.

She will know you and you will know her. In heaven we are reunited with our loved ones, just as the disciples were reunited with Jesus after His death and resurrection.
She will be ageless and young…in heaven there is no age, just glorified beings. She will be beautiful beyond imagination! And so will you!
 
I heard this recently from a friend who lost someone close to him, and it has changed the way I think about those who have gone before us.

He said that when someone is in Heaven, they are actually closer to you than they were when they were in this life. While they were here, they were only “with” you when they were physically present in the same location. But being in Heaven means that they are always with you, just as God is always with you, no matter where you go or what you do. And while you can’t hold her in your arms, you can know that she is there for you, holding you up in her prayers. She is always present to you through prayer.

I know this is probably little comfort, and seems so simple and useless, but it is my prayer that you will eventually feel her with you in this way, and not so distant as she feels today.

You are always in my prayers.

Thanks Liza! I hope so … I don’t feel her … I don’t even feel God anymore … I always have … but something is blocking a peaceful feeling.

I hope so … I really do … someone at work told me their take … that when our souls have completed our earthly purpose … we die and then go back into another body.

I told them that isn’t what scripture teaches … and if it were true, I would be very sad … because when would we meet up with our loved ones.

I am very uncomfortable with this idea.

Yes, I too would be uncomfortable with this idea because it is not true. Jesus has told us otherwise many times. He has told us so when he also addressed the saduccees. (Not sure if I spelled that correct.) They also didn’t believe in life after death. He is the God of Moses and other prophets that have lived long ago and they are dead but alive in Heaven. He is the God of the living. Someone else here may be more better to explain than I can or have. I am not that good with words, but believe me and most of all believe your Church and Jesus in what is said in the Bible. There is a Heaven! The person that told you that we go into another person must believe in reincarnation. This is not Bibllical.

And Moe? When you get to Heaven, you are going to be pretty spiffy to the infinite exponent, too! 👍

I visited her memorial web-site. What a lovely girl!
As far as purpose goes, I’m sure when an earthly life ends their purpose goes on. Our Church tells us that the reason we are created is to know, love and serve God. When we go to heaven we are able to know, love and serve Him better than ever.
St. Francis De Sales’ meditation on Paradise says " Think of a lovely starry night. Then think of a beautiful sunlit day: all this beauty together is nothing compared to Paradise. How lovely is that place!
In Heaven there are millions of angels, bands of apostles, prophets, martyrs, confessors, virgins and holy women. The least member of this glorious company is more beautiful than the whole world put together. They are all indescribably happy, and they give one another indescribable happiness. Most of all, the blest see God, their first principle, and He gives them the deepest joy.
Blessed be God, who is so good! And God blesses with and everlasting blessing all His saints, His beloved creatures who have served Him and who will praise Him eternally.
Admire and praise this beautiful heavenly Jerusalem and the great joy of it’s inhabitants." (Intro. To The Devout Life)
Think of how beautiful God made the world. He made it so beautiful just to reach out to us, to show us His love. And this is only our temporary home. How much more beautiful and happy is our forever home?!
I know how much you love McKayla but she is in the presence of the One who loves her more than humans are capable of loving.
You have a very loving family. Our Lord is offended so much by broken, fighting families these days. Perhaps it would help you and Jesus to go through this together. You can offer your pain, a pain because you love so much, to ease His pain from those who love too little.
