The sugar we are talking about is the refined white powder stripped of nearly all vitamins and minerals.

The moral delema that we can use to test our theroy is:

One of the biggest moral challenges we have is to return having children to its central place as a cornerstone of the Christian faith. Grand Kids for God. Blessings for the Parents in service and love.

I failed personally to do this until it was too late for my wife and I to have more children, so I became a Catholic as the Pope was for Children and I had been against artificial birth control. I saw the Popes position as perfectly living up to the perfect ideal of Christianity.

Back to sugar, I often as a youth took the easy way and ate my fruit in fruit loops.

No sugar is the hard way of self control, sacrifice, long term health vs short term taste and going away from the crowd. I have now done it for 25 years with a few bad spots. Finally I also got enought courage to go against most people in my family and become a catholic. Best and hardest thing I ever did.

I believe no sugar kids will go against the tide of the culture of fast and easy. They will know long term health is wealth by experience it at home. Parents with no sugar in their lives will have set a beautiful example.

It seems we have two very different opinions on studies of sugar effects on young children. This can be explained because of different effects of blood sugar rises such as quickly causing hyperactivity, rises even higher causing shock which appears to be a calming effect on the child, if it rises and dives quickly also appearing to calm the child but is actually a coma or rises quickly producing endorphin production which is calming the child like a car accident can. In the background the body is rapidly clogging up the veins and body with the excess sugar converting it to fat as quick as it can.

Of course my other standard question no one has found fault with is that all the cells rapidly burning up the excess sugar are stealing your health in the form of using up your vitamins and minerals. Thats why fruit is not the sugar we are talking about.

The child who can control his sweet tooth is in the perfect position to think about what he should do instead of do what he feels like or makes him feel good.

He will be perfectly positioned to lead the resurgence of the true Catholic faith keep alive by the Pope his bishops and you my good friends. Thanks for keeping it hear so I could find it.

I realise you are hung up on sugar (its the central theme in all your threads and posts) but lets focus on Christ and not sugar!!

So, Brother John, why stop at sugar?

Why not advocate elimination of white rice, white bread and white potatoes too? Do you eat white bread, white rice and white potatoes?

Do you only eat plain yogurt?
Have you eliminated all fruits and fruit juices from your diet?

And no cakes, cookies, biscuits, candies for any child??? What a world!!

Ya know, he’s kinda got a point…
You can’t have read his other threads and posts on sugar.
This thread is not about exercising self control. He’s using this to get into his theory that sugar is basically the root of all evil. He thinks it causes women to take the pill, for people to become addicts to all other things, to make people irrational, abusive and violent.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with nor any harm caused by intake of moderate amounts of sugar.

My life experience has been sugar. Of course there are many other disorders that lead to sin, it may have been boredom, rebellion, temptation etc.

One root of sin is disordered love of so many things, sugar being one of many. I’m getting too soft back to courage, you can only love sugar in fruit God’s natural forms as an additive or component it is disordered.

As for birthday cakes perhaps we can have fruit and no sugar jello. With my no sugar cookies. 2 cups oats, 1 flax, 2 eggs, 1 cup yogurt and any nuts.

This is good stuff all the white stuff except yogurt might lead to spiritual laxity. Do we have any saints that had a spiritual exercise of eliminating foods to get to heaven. Probably charity was the most important saint maker. Rats no easy way to heaven.

Fruits ripened on the vine or tree are directly from God. My cheap and quick spiritual rule eat only what God made in its original container.

Brother John

P.S. Only the white stuff bleached with sionide is really bad don’t sweat the potatoes and rice.
