Suggested reading for "higher-power only" beliefs?

I could use some help tracking down some good intellectual reading for a friend who knows very little about Christianity. She says that she believes “in a higher power”, but is unsure about God and even more unsure about “organized religion”. She is currently taking a general religion class that is teaching about all of the world religions except Christianity. She is learning from protestant friends about general Christian priciples, but I’d like to get her some solid Catholic reading that might help get her beyond the negative “organized religion” impression.

I know that he was not Catholic, but C.S. Lewis’ books may be helpful. Mere Christianity comes to mind.

I was going to suggest C.S. Lewis, but I see somebody else has already suggested him. I will suggest him anyway. “Surprised by Joy” describes his own transition from belief in “a higher power” to belief in God.
