Hello there everyone! 🙂

Having become Catholic recently, I have found a desire to learn from the Saints by reading what some of them have written. To be honest, I seek to deepen my devotion and faith (which I perpetually feel is far from strong) with their help.

I wondered whether any of you might have recommendations on what to read? My Patron is Saint Francis de Sales, and I gather he wrote the Introduction to the Devout Life. Would you recommend that work for this particular purpose, or is it more of a different thing?

I’ve also found myself particularly interested in the Infant of Prague and Our Lady of Lourdes. Are there any resources that you would suggest reading about these?

Thanks a lot 🙂

I absolutely recommend Introduction to the Devout Life. Although I’d even more strongly recommend a book I just finished, The Fulfillment of All Desire by Ralph Martin. In it, he looks at the spiritual life by looking deeply at the writings of St. Francis de Sales, St Therese of Lisieux, St Augustine of Hippo, St Bernard of Clairvaux, St John of the Cross, and St Teresa of Avila. He quotes extensively from the writings of those saints and provides the necessary background to enable a modern day reader to understand what the saints are teaching us. When I was confirmed (after my reversion to the Faith a couple yrs ago) my priest gave me a copy. I can’t recommend it highly enough.

Yes, Yes, Yes x100000 yes! 🙂 That book is amazing, especially for what you’re looking for. 👍 Trust me, you’re gonna start to see the world through a whole new pair of eyes. (At least, that’s what happened to me.)

People are quite different, so each person should look for what is for him, I would suggest that you look at several chapters of “Introduction to the Devout Life” to see if it is for you, if you have that particularly in mind. It is available on the web. Different strokes for different folks.

I thought I wold provide some links which perhaps you will find helpful.
