Lent is coming up, and I’m not sure what book to make use of for the Lemten season.

Suggestions?

You can find it online for free and covers a wide variety of things. I believe the authors identity is unknown.

I have a very old copy of that book. Forgot about it… I’ve nut yet read it.

Check with Word on Fire (Bishop Barron); they have a Lenten book which I purchased; just glanced at it so far but it looks to be awesome.

I usually read his online email subscription for Advent and the daily readings. Not sure if he will have that for Lent.

Yes every Lent I read the Gospels straight through.

Read the New Testament in Lent. (Google will point you to plans) It takes about 30 minutes per day.

Last Lent, I read through Fulton Sheen’s “The Cross and the Beatitudes.” He takes the 7 last words of Christ and associates each of them with a different one of the Beatitudes. I thought it was very good.

I ordered Seven Story Mountain and No Man Is an Island by Thomas Merton.
And a book by Dorothy Day

Frank Sheed’s “To Know Christ Jesus” is one I wish I could buy for everyone.

“Jesus of Nazareth: Holy Week, From the Entrance into Jerusalem to the Resurrection,” by Pope Benedict XVI

This is the sequel to the first book, “Jesus of Nazareth: From the Baptism in the Jordan to the Transfiguration”

However, if you want something more spiritual, “The Lamb’s Supper,” by Scott Hahn

I’d classify that one as apologetics/Scripture study.

The Jesus of Nazareth books are so beautiful! Formed.org is doing a Lenten Study with the “Holy Week” book and it is led by Fr Fessio!!
