I am helping lead a Catholic young adult group for college aged students and up, and need suggestions for materials to read and discuss as a group.

We recently read and discussed The Lamb’s Supper by Scott Hahn (Easy read, but great theology!), and are currently reading through Pope Francis’ encyclical Lumen Fidei (Super convenient to print out from the Vatican’s website).

I would love to do another book - maybe the Screwtape Letters - but drawbacks include cost, and no one ever does the reading ahead of time. One girl suggested reading through Pope Francis’ interview with America Magazine, but Lumen Fidei has been a little dry, so I want to try another author.

What suggestions do you have?

What about googling some works by Peter Kreeft? Can’t go wrong there. He’s a college professor, and works with young adults all the time.

Watch some of the Word on Fire videos by Fr. Robert Barron and do a discussion about what you learned. They are always short (under ten minutes) and topical because they are usually about a recent thing that’s been in the news or some Catholic doctrine that’s frequently misunderstood. Plus, they’re free and on YouTube!

Consider one of these options:

AB Fulton Sheens: LIFE OF CHRIST

Or some of the Works of father John A Hardon S.J.

God Bless you,
