So, from one of my previous posts I was deciding on two job offers that I wasn’t too crazy about. I ended up actually turning them both down, because I figured since I was still getting some calls for interviews that I could wait for something that pays what I want and I could grow at also. Turns out I ended up getting an offer for a job that pays what I was looking for, and at a place I think I would like. I accepted the position, but it doesn’t start until July 10th. I don’t have a lot of money right now to spend so I can’t go shopping which is what I would do if I had money to spend. So now I really don’t know what to do for a whole week. I was spending a lot of my time at the library when I was looking for a job, applying to jobs. But, now since I accepted a position I really don’t know what I could do all those days. I don’t like sitting at home during the day time. Any suggestions???

What’s going on daily at your parish?

I’m not sure, but usually if I pass by the parish during the day there is barely any cars in the lot, so I don’t think much is going on. Although there’s a grotto, and the parish is right by my house. I go to the grotto randomly to pray, but it doesn’t take more than an hour. Maybe I could call the church and ask to volunteer for the week.

It’s kind of hard to know without knowing your age range or what you enjoy doing.

Here are a couple of suggestions: you could visit your parish for an hour of Adoration, saying the Rosary. You could exercise: walk, run, ride a bike.

Visit the library to look for edifying books, like the Confessions of St Augustine. Or fun novels.

You could spent 15 to 20 minutes a day making sure your closets are cleaned out of all unnecessary, outgrown clothes, and donate them.

You could invite a friend or two out for coffee.

Once you start working you will have less time, so I would regard this free time as a blessing. Take a hometown vacation: visit all the interesting places, museums, etc that a visitor from out of town would visit.
Just some ideas.
God bless. Congratulations on your new job!

Thank you so much! And,Those are all great suggestions. I need to make a whole list of things to do and plan my days. Otherwise the days are going to go by so slow. I’ve been having some days already like that now and I’m sick of the library lol. I literally would stay there 5 hours a day when I was applying to jobs.

Congrats on your new job!

I’ve experienced being unemployed and looking for a job for I think three months. I don’t know about you, but in my case, I miss my ‘free time’. When it came to starting my new job, I adjusting easily to being more busy and having deliverables everyday. But I still think of the time when I was not working, had more time for extra prayer, watching shows and reading, doing other errands.

A week is just very quick. Like what others said, go to Mass and spend more time for prayer. Read up on a book you want but didn’t have time to. I was going to suggest shopping, but you said it isn’t an option right now. 😛 If money wasn’t a question, I’d suggest trying out new restaurants. I did a bit of this in between jobs.

You’ve received some excellent suggestions for how to spend your week. I just wanted to also congratulate you on your new position. I’m so glad you found one that fits with your goals!~ …and it always so nice to get an update on a situation especially a good one.

Hope you enjoy your week,

God bless,

Mary.

Congratulations on your new job, I hope that it will be the right place for you and that you will enjoy going to work every day. Since you won’t have much time I suggest you think about getting together with friends or family that you will not be able to see as often when you are back to work. I will pray for you to be successfukin your new work. God bless you.

Take your body for a spin: bike, run, swim whichever you like.

Hang out with whomever; you won’t have time once the job starts.

Watch your favorite TV shows, catch up on your reading.

Treat the time until your job as a “staycation.” That is effectively what it is.

God Bless and ICXC NIKA
