Situation A:

Is it justifiable to commit suicide if you’re about to be tortured for information? Like if the terrorists want you to give them the password for the bombs or something?

Situation B:

Conversely, if we’ve captured a terrorist, is it justifiable to torture the terrorist to find out the location of the ticking time bomb?

The 2nd question was addressed in some detail over 1 year ago in a thread on waterboarding.

The 1st is a wee bit more troublesome. Of course, one may not commit suicide; but what if, doubting one’s ability to withstand torture, one believes it to be the only way to save other lives?

God Bless and ICXC NIKA.
