Hello,

I am coming into the church and will be starting RCIA later this year. The RCIA director said she was going to try to get something started for the summer as well. Just got an e-mail from her and there’s going to be an adult formation class for 12 weeks starting Sunday morning for practicing Catholics who aren’t confirmed yet. Invited me to go. Definitely going. Anybody else go through one of these before? Not sure how different they are from RCIA classes other than probably for those that have more knowledge about the Catholic Church. Just so glad something is getting started for the summer!

Curtis, congratulations regarding this good news!
May God continue to bless you, as you undertake this catechetical class.

Thank you, Trishie. I definitely need it. Reading the Baltimore Catechism 3, Catechism of the Catholic Church and other books are great but definitely learn a lot more in a class setting like this. Should be wonderful. Go right from this class into RCIA. The 12 weeks should be up mid September.

I think that the Catholic Church will be very blessed to have you as one of us.

Congratulations on your decision and the availability of these classes. At, our parish we only have one RCIA class and it involves everyone. I wouldn’t be too concerned, just be sure you you ask all the questions to fully understand what you learn.

I am just glad you are coming to the Catholic church and will have the gift of the sacraments. God has a plan for your life…as it unfolds,🙏 🎆 🎉🎶

Not sure how different they are from RCIA classes
RCIA “classes” prepare the unbaptized adults for baptism and the other Rites of Initiation.

The difference is, sounds like you are a baptized Catholic who has never received Confirmation. These sessions will prepare you to receive that important Sacrament of Initiation!

Yes, that pretty much describes me except I was baptized in a church of Christ back in 2004 and not a Catholic Church.

I joined the Catholic Church earlier in 2018, I did not have to go through RCIA because I was already baptized through another church and it was seen as a “valid” baptism. Instead, I received individual counseling every week for several months until it was determined I was ready for Reconciliation, Confirmation, and the Holy Eucharist. The Catholic Church has blessed me in SO many ways. I actually had a miraculous healing a week after my confirmation and first Eucharist. We are all here to welcome you to the one true Church!

It looks like that after finishing this 12 week class, I will be able to get confirmed into the Church! The RCIA director was really lobbying for something like this for us who work nights and normally couldn’t attend RCIA during the week. This is such a blessing. It’s a small class with around 4-5 people that we have at one of the houses near the parish. God definitely answering these prayers. I knew He would find a way to get me fully home. Keep me in your prayers for these next 12 weeks. I’m sure this has got the devil sure mad! haha he’s going to try everything he can to keep me away.

Congrats!

Just wanted to point out a colloquialism that’s incorrectly applied by Catholics everywhere: you’re still doing RCIA - you’re just doing an abbreviated, more personalized format. When people say RCIA, they usually refer to weekly classes, but the term actually (properly) applies to the process by which one enters the Church as an adult and all the rites that accompany that, no matter if it’s weekly classes for 9/18/24 months or just a few weeks of 1:1 counsel.
