It may be of interest to know that a source extremely close to the Institute of Christ the King is asking for signatures on a petition to assure that the TLM does not become more restricted.

This is no rumor, it’s a fact. Go to “Monseigneur Gilles Wach” on Facebook. It’s there.

I couldn’t find it. But if he’s still asking for signatures on a petition, does that mean it’s not a done deal?

There is now 5247 signitures on the petition. What we need right now is prayer and lots of it.
This is not just the work of one blog. Its all over the net.

Thanks for the update. If there ever was a case of “the more, the merrier” this is it.

**Please, folks, if you haven’t signed yet, do it ASAP. Adding your voice to the appeal can do no harm and may help do a lot of good.

edit] An excellent article appeared today in New Liturgical Movement. It’s worth a read.

I am confused by one thing. It seems like these instructions have not yet been released. Therefore, how does one know what they are protesting? Isn’t this still in the draft stage?

It’s not a “protest” but rather an appeal to maintain the integrity of the Motu Proprio.

Yes, the instruction is yet unpublished, but that doesn’t mean there’s no reason for some concern. Refer the link to NLM that I posted earlier.

Fair point. But I still recall the protests made by German bishops delaying things and reportedly forcing the 2007 SP to be watered down somewhat.

Whether this is true or not I don’t know, but the best time to protest is before anything official is released. Easier to withdraw something in the “draft” state. Much tougher to repeal something passed.

I did read it. I just couldn’t find any information in it. No specifics are given and even the concern is considerably hedged. It has all the signs of an unsubstantiated rumor. I prefer the concrete.

All I can say is that the rumors are founded. They come from people who know, and whose business it is to know. I wish I could say more. But let’s look at it this way, very respectable people like those at New Liturgical Movement are taking it seriously. These are not nutcases.

I never got to go to a Traditional mass yet, I hope it is not taken away now 😦

That is my thought. Is it a few bishops who are against the SP ? If so, nothing new. We’ve seen this from the start.

If it’s coming from H.H. in any way, it may be related to the fact that he asked all bishops to report to him three years after the SP, letting him know how the SP has effected their diocese.

Who knows 🤷

For now, I’m not concerned.

It is perfectly fine to discuss this topic which is of concern to Latin Catholics. However, I will ask you to be prudent when including a link in your post.

No links to sources that make allegations about people by name.

No links to sources that make comments that are offensive toward the clergy and hierarchy.

No links to sources that use disrespectful characterizations.
