Sunday Communion Services at Assisted Living Centers -guidelines

My question is this:

I am an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion in our parish who is one of several who take Holy Communion to an Assisted Living Community on Sundays. When I was asked to do this I was given several handbooks on taking Communion to the sick. These services are very short, and do not include that particular Sunday’s readings, just a short reading from the Gospel, usually John’s and does not include the Gloria or the Creed. My question is that since I am doing this on a Sunday, shouldn’t the form of the Sunday Celebrations without a Priest be used? I have found this link (which is from a diocese that is not my own):

which clearly outlines what I as a lay person may or may not say, but seems more correct for the situation I am taking Communion to. These people aren’t sick, we all meet in a large room, these are not individual receptions of Communion. Would I be overstepping my bounds by using this service?

You are correct. The Rite of Communion outside of Mass can take several forms. Depending on circumstances.
It should take the fullest form considering the people, space and time allowed. The readings of the day should be used and if possible a written version of the priests homily should be read. Most people in assisted living deserve more than a “drive-thru” service.

You need to have the permission of your pastor to do this, and possibly, depending on the diocese, the permission of your bishop.

I sounds like he is already doing this ministry and wanted to know if there was a specific Communion rite that should be followed.

For the retirement homes we follow the order of the mass except we omit the Offertory and Eucharistic Prayer. We follow everything through the prayer of the Faithful then continue with the Our Father. Everyone can follow with the Missalettes.

At one time the Director of Worship for the diocese was in residence at our parish. We developed most of our procedures under his guidance.
