Sunday Mass and Road trip

This weekend, I’m going on a road trip with my friends. (I’m currently living in South Korea.) It’s entirely possible, even likely perhaps, that I won’t get back home in time for Sunday morning Mass, and I don’t know if there are any other parishes in the area that have a Sunday Mass later in the day. (I’m going to ask a friend of mine if she can find out what the Mass schedules are at other parishes in my home city, as well as where they are.) My question is, should I just not go on the road trip, if I may have to miss Sunday Mass?
 
Is it possible to speak with your Priest about this? He could surely help you.

When we lived in Turkey we missed a fair number of Sunday Masses due to traveling and visiting the ruins some were where the Apostles had walked. My mom (I was only 10/11 at the time) talked to our Chaplain/Priest about this and he gave us permission to miss Mass.

BTW, there is another thread somewhere about camping with family and possibly missing mass but I don’t remember where it is. These two threads are related.

The problem is, I’m already in South Korea, and the priest at the parish I attend doesn’t speak English. But I’ll look for the other thread.
 
You are going to get two kinds of answers here. One side will tell you that they never go anywhere that doesn’t guarantee Mass on Sunday. The other side will tell you to speak to your priest, let him know that you may miss Mass and ask for dispensation.

I made plans to attend a conference in June. At the time of the plans, I had planned to attend Mass. Plans changed and now I am not sure that I will be able to attend. But I have already paid for the flight and conference. I would lose $350 to not attend, because I might miss Mass. I spoke to my priest, he said to try to get to mass. If others were going from the conference and I found a ride, to go, if it was safe. Otherwise, attend daily Mass that week and spend some time in prayer on Sunday.

I like that solution, and that was kind of what I was thinking I would do.
 
You can also do a search on masstimes.org. They have a search by country, and South Korea is listed there. Plug in the city you’ll be in on that Sunday, and hopefully, you’ll be able to find something.

I leave for the trip on Thursday and travel home on Sunday.

I will try to attend Mass, either Saturday night or Sunday morning, but I will not have a car and will be in an unfamiliar town. Between flights and taxis and the like, I do not know if I will make it.

There are many churches in the area, and I have a printout from Masstimes.org. But if it becomes a problem, I have already spoken to my priest. Just covering all of my bases.

Great idea. I didn’t know that masstimes.org had by country other than US & Canada.

So, there is a good solution. The other thing is to see if somene will act as interpreter between you and the non-English speaking Korea Priest ;).
