If I am at Sunday Mass was not able to get to confession beforehand, do I still fulfill my Sunday obligation without receiving communion? Last week I felt I was not properly prepared to receive Our Lord (possible had mortal sin on my soul- but not certain it was mortal), so I did not receive communion. Did I also break the 4th Commandment?

We have on obligation to attend mass every Sunday, but not an obligation to receive Communion (other than once a year at Easter season).

It sounds to me as if your sin wasn’t mortal, but only your priest can say for sure. Get to confession as soon as you can. You can even call the office and make an appointment for confession if the scheduled ones will be a time away.

Fulfilling the obligation to attend Mass and receiving communion are two different things. One need not receive communion at any given Mass.

The obligation is to attend Mass, not to receive communion at that Mass.

The fourth commandment is to honor your mother and father, not sure what you are referring to regarding breaking that commandment?

I don’t know what sin you committed and it’s not of my business.
In order for a sin to be mortal it must be grievous and involve full consent and foreknowledge on your part. Again, none of my business and the reason that confession is private.
You are under no obligation to receive the Eucharist when attending Mass nor do you need to confess your sins before receiving the Eucharist unless they are mortal.
Frequent confession is a good and pious devotion, even for venial sins lest the tendency to sin develop into more grievous sins. How grievous your sins are remains between you and your confessor.

Many many moons ago c.half the congregation did not take Communion. In those days you had to fast from Midnight. Nowadays where I am most do in fact go up for the Eucharist, but as has been pointed out above such is not obligatory in order to fulfill the Sunday attendance requirement.
