I work abroad for long stretches at a time and often am not able to get to mass so I can sympathize. I strongly recommend that if you are unable to make mass, prayerfully read the mass readings of the day and pray part or all of the Liturgy of the Hours. The Liturgy of the Hours, like the mass, is part of the Church’s official prayer - her worship through Christ to God…by praying the liturgy of the hours (also known as the divine office), though physically alone, you will unite your prayer to the prayer of the Church and participate in her corporate worship. For this reason, the liturgy of the hours is greater than any private devotion, for it is the prayer of Christ through His Church and is thus intrinsically pleasing to the Father. Divineoffice.org is a great place to start!

Lauds and Vespers (morning and evening prayer) are a good starting point to open and close the day. I would also highly recommend the Office of Readings (previously known as Matins) as it can be prayed at any time during the day and tends to be the most instructive (with the inclusion of two longer readings - one from Scripture and one from the writings of the popes or saints).
