So what do you think — does mass in another language fulfill weekly obligation?

Thanks everybody

It could be in Hawaiian, and it would still fulfill the obligation. Of course, there is no Roman Missal in Hawaiian.

If I can’t make it to an English mass, I go to the Spanish one, and I’ve also gone to a Portuguese mass, too. And I don’t speak Spanish or Portuguese.

When we first came to this country:), we had to go to the Mass in English:thumbsup:. The only Mass in Spanish was at the cathedral. :yup: Of course these Masses in English were valid – and the same for the Communion. None of the Priests spoke Spanish at the parish. Therefore, we had to make an appointment (for each of us in succession), and travel long distance to go to Confession. :clapping: There was no question as to if any of us “had” to go to Confession but each “had” because that was it! 👍

So I went to 5:00 mass in French! Ended up being able to follow a lot more than I thought I would. 🙂 Thank you Jesus for today’s holy communion!

It’s actually something I enjoy doing once in a while. Great reminder of the universality of the church, and I find it really can bring your attention back to Jesus in a special way.

When I was young I went to masses in Latin. My understanding was that those masses were valid for fulfilling my Sunday Obligation.
