I feel like God has been helping me a lot, answering prayers that have helped me. I want to go to Mass and thank God there. But I haven’t gone for a couple weeks, at first I just didn’t want to go but now I really want to go but the whole time I have been afraid also, because I live alone in a large city that is very dangerous, and I am a young female. I have to take the city bus to get to the church and then a short walk, and now that it is dark at 5, I fear for my safety. But morning Mass, I would miss one of the two meals my cafeteria offers on the weekends, and I honestly need that food, I’m a college student and I can’t really afford to get a separate breakfast while out and I need food to do my work. I don’t have anyone to go with me. There is a noon Mass I could make on Sunday, but I would have to dress up as it’s a Latin Mass and I’d probably be late as I rely on the bus system like I said, and I don’t want to go out dressed up and attract any attention to myself (I’m not exaggerating, it’s a scary place here).
Yeah, I know these are a bunch of excuses, right?
Would it count as my “Sunday obligation” to go to a weekday Mass?
Also, I do want to go to church, but I really can’t help wondering sometimes if saying that Mass is a “Sunday obligation” that sends you to hell if you don’t go is just something said that forces people to go.
