Sunday & Saturday's Gospel Reading

Are the same ones. I mean the Saturday daily Mass and not the Sunday vigil. I went to Saturday daily Mass this morning and then Sunday vigil Saturday night and they were the same Gospel. I checked my Magnificant and they are the same readings. Any thoughts on why this was done?
 
This is not uncommon. Often the daily readings follow some continuous thread from day to day — a seasonal theme, or day by day working in order through a section of one of the four Gospels.

If one of the readings of the week is “important” enough to be included as a Sunday reading, it is likely that it will fall in the same season or even, as you observed, in the same week.
