Hello,

“Can. 1247 On Sundays and other holy days of obligation, the faithful are obliged to participate in the Mass. Moreover, they are to abstain from those works and affairs which hinder the worship to be rendered to God, the joy proper to the Lord’s day, or the suitable relaxation of mind and body.”

I saw threads that homework is ok on Sundays. However, if this would cause lots of stress, would it be a bad thing to complete HW today? I have to complete it for tomorrow, and I am not too responsible.

Thanks and Happy New Year,
A.K.

Um no not a sin to do homework on Sunday

Have a look here forums.catholic-questions.org/showthread.php?t=76554 as well

I suggest, if you are doubtful to WAIT until midnight
Sunday and pull a half-nighter, the Lord will help you
so that you can finish in HALF the time needed.

Gives new meaning to that old expression “burning the midnight oil.” 🙂

Sunday is supposed to be a day of rest. It may therefore be advisable (not under penalty of sin, but just for your own benefit) to avoid doing anything stressful if possible.

It is not a sin to do homework on a Sunday but I’m curious why would you not get it done Friday after school or on Saturday.

There’s going to be a certain amount of stress before any deadline, probably more so if you’re not ready for that test or homework due Monday. There are many classes one takes that REQUIRE at least a certain amount of study EVERY day, especially if you’re a slow student. Better to like what you’re studying but I don’t see any sin doing homework on Sunday.

Nope, you don’t get out of homework because it’s Sunday. Of course it’ll be stressful if you waited until the last minute to do it - still no excuse.

If you go to Mass on Sunday it,dose,t mean you can,t do anything the rest off the day,but many church, have it on Sat to,and it count,s just as well. i know that Sunday always has been the day many people go,but some people work ,and so they allow Sat too count too ,for those that can,t make it on Sunday. God Bless my friend
