Sun's light is dark until it hits Earth, why?

I’ll add one more. You can see the Sun’s light when it reflects off the moon, Venus, Mars, the rest of the planets.

Why is it the energy from the Sun is dark until it hits earth?

Is the darkness connected to the dark matter of the universe?

That’s actually a very good question. The reason we can’t see light when it’s traveling through space is because light isn’t actually a “thing” in and of itself - rather, it’s a kind of energy.

In order to activate the energy, it has to interact with something - it has to hit something. As soon as it hits something - even air - then you can see - not the light, which remains invisible, but rather, you can see the thing that it hit - the air, for example, or your friend’s face.

Colour theory tells us that light actually travels through objects, but can be stopped and “bounced” by certain other kinds of energy, which we call “colours.” Depending on the wavelength of the colour energy, the light that bounces back could be red, orange, yellow, green, blue, or violet. If there is very little colour energy, the colour will seem very dark. If there is a lot, then it will seem lighter. If you mix all of the colours together, you get white light. Often, there are blends of the various colours, creating a visible spectrum of thousands of different shades and hues, thus creating a very exciting, colourful world. 👍

This is true. Without the air, there would be no blue (or any other color) sky. (It doesn’t have to be air as we know it, though.)

Right - any kind of gas will do the same thing, and the colour will vary according to the properties of the substance.
 
No. Your iris admits light, which impacts the optic nerve, which transmits an electo-chemical signal to your brain which translates that into size, shape, color and distance.

Your eyes don’t see anything at all, your brain does. Otherwise, no one would see anything when they are asleep.
It’s both eyes and mind, else you could see blindfolded.
