Do you like the show? I haven’t got a family yet, but it seems like I can learn quite few things from the lady how to handle kids.

I like Supernanny. I see her as kind of a Dog Whisperer for parents. Really, what she does is teach the parents how to get control of themselves and be consistent so that the kids aren’t hyper and acting out and confused. She seems to do well working within many different families with different needs and lifestyles, even families with kids with special needs. She’s very clear about kids needing parents who can confidently lead them but not be tyrants. I enjoy the show when I catch it.

I think the show is great. She is helping to create healther families. I love that.

I watched it last night, as a matter of fact. I’m not an avid watcher, but I love the show. It was really good last night. I agree with the poster who said she is like a ‘dog whisperer’ of sorts. lol It goes to show that most of the situations that she deals with, relating to seemingly unruly kids–stem from parents who have issues that they must come to terms with before evolving into solid parents.

I like it. 😃 DH asked me last night if I would laugh at him if he read her book. He thinks Jo is GREAT! :coffeeread:

Funny you mention this.

Last night DH and I were flipping through the channels and caught the first part of the show when they hit the highlights of what’s to come. They showed those two older kids talking back, screaming, cursing, flipping off their parents and slapping them. I had my little one month old on my lap and said to him, joking of course, “If you ever hit Mommy or Daddy you are in for it!” I guess I spoke with a little too much emotion because he looked at me and curled his little lip under and let out a wail! I felt SOOOOOO bad! It melted my heart!

I like the show. I absolutely cannot believe the things that goes on in those families, though.

The nanny’s style is slightly different than my own parenting style, but she does a good job of teaching those people how to grow a backbone.

I just wonder how many of them stick to it after she leaves for good. How many slip back into their old ways and all hell breaks loose again? They should do some follow up shows 6-12 months later and check up on these people.

For the most part, I like it.

It was fun to watch w/ my kids (late teens); I told them that if their kids EVER acted that way, I would never babysit for them!

I wish she’d come to my house and help with Lily’s sleep! If she showed me something that worked there is no way I would go back to our old ways! I can’t imagine why anyone would, but i’m sure they do.🤷
