The only thing about the Superbowl that matters is the commercials (without which they wouldn’t broadcast the game).

You can go here to check out the ads from yesterday’s game and vote for your favs.

This is my own favorite, not in the above list for some reason.

I second your sentiment. The missing one is the best. I can’t vote. Kudo’s to Blockbuster.

The AD with the rabbit and mouse was hillarious:rotfl:

The Snickers AD on the other hand nearly made me loose my dinner.

DH tivoed the game, and watched the golf, so we could watch it without the commercials, and mercifully, without the halftime show. we saw the whole thing in less than an hour and proved once again, if you want to bet, use your head not your heart.

I liked the Blockbuster ad and the one with the Coca-cola machine that had a fantasy conveyor belt. The GTA parody was good too.

Thanks for starting this topic.

I was very disappointed in the ads this year. Some of them were cute, but I didn’t think any of them were great.

I liked the Snickers ad, but I didn’t love it. And I can see where it might lead to controversy and accusations of stereotyping and gay-bashing. “What’s wrong with men kissing?” “Why does kissing imply that they’re gay?” And many people in the U.S. will ask, “Why is being gay something to be scorned?”

Usually Anheiser-Busch does such a good job, but not this year. I thought all of the Bud ads subtly displayed a violence and “death wish;” e.g., the rock-throwing ad, the hitchhiker ad (“He has an ax! He has a chainsaw!”). I remember in college studying liquor ads and learning that many of them include a “death wish,” as many people who drink alcohol harbor a “death wish.” These “violent” ads are very successful in selling alcohol. Hmmm…I guess someone at Anheiser Busch took the same class I did.

I didn’t really like the Bud dalmation ad either. The “mule” ad last year was so much better. OTOH, I thought this was probably the best of the ads yesterday.

I didn’t like the jungle office ads much. Dilbert does the same thing, only funnier.

The Coke ads were OK, but compared to past Coke ads, they weren’t that good. I did really like the Black History Month ad with the changing Coke bottle. OTOH, did Coke really contribute to helping advance the Civil Rights movement? If not, then I don’t like that they took credit for it in this ad.

The rapper ad was cute, but only if you knew who the rapper was. I wouldn’t have known if I hadn’t seen a preview of this ad at work on CNN. I’m sure a lot of old people like me didn’t get it.

Like I said, ho-hum.

I had to love the 'Robert Goulet is going to mess with your stuff" ad. Emerald Nuts may not be the best nuts out there, but they do make some very clever and humorous commercials.

I also enjoyed the Coke ad with the old man who ponders what else he hasn’t done with his life, and then decides to do them. Personally, I too wish to some day run with the bulls in Pamplona, Spain.

ya know, I had seen that one before - I don’t think it was a new ad. Maybe that’s why it wasn’t included?

My son thought the Fed-ex moon base where the guy gets taken out by a meteor was hilarious. It (or perhaps his laughter) made me smile.

The video game spoof was also well done.

I was partial to the dalmation ad but as a Packer fan, really appreciated the It’s Hard to Say Goodbye.

And I admit I laughed out loud at K-Federline (or whatever his name is) ad. I have to appreciate someone who is willing to make fun of himself like that.

Some were pretty disappointing - especially w/ a 7yr old watching.

And I was so tired of seeing advertisements for t.v. shows and that movie!

As an “American of Hispanic origin” (I’m being sarcastically politically correct here) and an ESL teacher, I just about died laughing at the Bud Lite ad with Carlos Mencias!

Other than that, I was disappointed that the Clydesdales didn’t play football this year. Maybe they couldn’t figure out how to top the “streaking” sheep last year?

  1. *]Blockbuster Mouse
    *]Budwiser Dalmation
    *]Taco Bell Lions
    *]Coke: Assembly Line
*]Chevrolet Singing Ad tie Chevrolet Robot

Ya, nost of the ads were either displaying some kind of violence or they had animals in them. The Blockbuster ‘Mouse’ will be the best of all of them when voting is finished.

My favorite was the Budwiser Dalmation. So cute.

I may never be able to eat a Snicker’s bar again. That ad was just nasty. Not only do I NOT want to see two men mouthing each other over a candy bar, I also don’t want to see anyone rip off body hair. What were they thinking???

I agree:thumbsup:

These two Toyota Tundra ads, “See-Saw” and “Ramp” both made me wonder how many takes were needed & how many truckes were smashe in the process.

I suspect “Ramp” was photoshopped.

About 2 weeks ago there was an article in
Advertising Age magazine about an ad that
was supposed to run, but didn’t…

A man was supposed to propose to his girlfriend during the game and it didn’t run…

I’m wondering if she got wind of it and asked
him not to run it because he could spend the
money more wisely or she just said “NO!”

I wonder if I’ll ever find out ? ? ?

Cactus Jack :hmmm:

In no particular order:

The Blockbuster Mouse
The Doritos with the guy in the car and girl on the sidewalk
The E Trade “What you can do with 1 finger”
The Rock Paper Scissors Bud Light
The Killer Hitchhiker Bud Light

Is it just me or did anyone else think that it was no coincidence that the “one finger” ad was right after the prostate ad? My husband and brother-in-law are still roaring with laughter over that. Strange sense of humor with those two…

Did anyone catch Rosie on The View this AM? I did (unfortunatly) and she was going off about how the Snicker’s ad was pulled because the Gay & Lesbian Anti-Defemation League pitched a fit because they said the ad suggested there was something wrong with two men kissing.

Umm. right.
