Did anyone catch Rosie on The View this AM? I did (unfortunatly) and she was going off about how the Snicker’s ad was pulled because the Gay & Lesbian Anti-Defemation League pitched a fit because they said the ad suggested there was something wrong with two men kissing.

Seriously, RIGHT!!! There is something seriously wrong with it, namely it makes me sick to my stomach. I bet the ad does as much for Snickers as its appearance in Caddy Shack.

Okay, not an ad but did anyone watch Puppy Bowl III? I caught the Kitten Half Time Show on Animal Planet and was just about killed with cuteness.
 
I thought the the NFL’s “Its hard to let go…” ad was the best. The Carlos Mencias ads were clever. Nationwide’s ad with Fedderline was too.

Many of the rest were reaching too hard, dumb, or in poor taste. And I’ll *never *buy another Snickers bar.:mad:

Of all the companies that bought Super Bowl ads, I wonder how their stocls have performed since the airing of the commercials. DId the commercials help or hurt their company? With the talk about the Snickers commercial, I wonder if M&M Mars is hurting in the stock market for this commercial?

I watched that, it was awesome. More entertaining for me then the Super Bowl…cuter players too!
 
I hate to be the blacksheep here, but I actually watched the game and enjoyed it, (even though I’m a Bears fan), and I didn’t pay much attention to the commercials. I paused the dvr at commercial time, went and got something to eat or drink, and then fast-forwarded it past the commercials. I understand the gay boys and girls had a hissy fit about the Snickers commercial. My heart goes out to them. (sarcastic)
 
If us “straights” had complained FIRST about that disgusting Snickers ad, the “gays” would be all over us like white on rice!
Looks to me now as though most everyone saw it as disgusting.
I’ll never look at another Snickers bar again without getting a mental image of that awful ad. :mad:

I just don’t understand what they were thinking - surely they show the ads to a focus group to get their reactions before spending the mega big $s on a super bowl ad. I can’t believe anyone thought that ad was good - it pretty much disgusted everyone - gays & straights, for different reasons, obviously. I wonder if people got fired over it?? I would guess so because it’s one thing to find an ad stupid - that happens all the time. But I’ve heard so many people say they will never look at a snicker’s the same way - talk about damage to their reputation.

“There’s no such thing as bad publicity” maybe?

I wonder if it was made by the same agency that made the “Creepy King” Burgerking ads and “poorly CG-ed” Orville “Deadenbacher” Redenbacher ads. (Apparently both of those campaigns successfully generated product buzz through badness)

That snickers one was pulled though. Too many gay people complained that it was gay bashing. I thought it was gross.

I don’t have a favorite this year. I was just glad to watch football with my DH home from Iraq. 😃 But Anheiser-Bush (sp?) would have our vote as good because they typically have some good commericals. But we are also kinda partial to them anyway for their continuous support of the military. 😛

**Suicide prevention demands GM pull robot ad

The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention today demanded that General Motors Corp. pull its Super Bowl commercial depicting a former factory robot leaping off a bridge in a dream sequence.
The New York organization called the ad offensive and potentially dangerous, and wants the Detroit automaker to stop running the commercial on television and to remove it from its Web site and video sites such as www.youtube.com.
To tell the truth I felt bad seeing the robot jump until it turned out to be having a nightmare.

In our office, the Snickers spot was one of the favorites of the under-30 folks. (All are college grads too, btw.) Those older than 30 almost universally thought it was bad taste. It shows the chasm in tastes and values between young adults today and those a just few years older. And guess who the focus audience is. Tell ya what folks; we ain’t seen *nothin’ *yet.

I know!!
Scary just to think of but I trace all of it back to the 1st time Archie Bunker flushed his ‘turlit’.
Since then, nothing has been sacred.
I may have to just give up TV in my dotage.

As an aside: Does DWPC mean “down with politically correct”? Just curious.
