You have my prayers that you find encouragement to carry on in your quest. I heard somewhere that birds of a feather flock together. Maybe you could develop an organization providing support.

almost forgot…you will inevitably succeed in your quest… because you are seeking to serve the Lord, and others. By following these greatest ‘commandments’ there will be great satisfaction and spiritual rewards.

Turns out that the Cistercian monks near me only do spiritual direction in the context of retreats. Sounds more like one-off visits with an older monk as part of a larger retreat experience rather than classic spiritual direction.

I’m a little disappointed, but am going to look at the list of directors from the Archdioces Formation website and ask some newly ordained deacons for any first hand experience with those on the list. The list is fairly long and includes priests, deacons, lay and even Jesuits.

We shall see.

Still, now you know the context of the direction they give, and you also know that you could turn it into a yearly pilgrimage.

A deacon might be a good choice, as they are in a state of life you will find yourself some day.

Or if worse comes to worse, do what the Salesians do;

“Provided it doesn’t cause you to sin…JUMP. Worry about the rest after you land”.
