Hi All,
I really want to give a big thank you and support to Pope Benedict, our Pope Emeritus. There is a lot of negative and bad talk about him now and many people are calling his Papacy and failure and that he was a bad Pope- I would like to say to all that is not true, he is a wonderful, humble and Holy man and was a great Pope. My love for him goes back to when my grandfather was dying he gave him his Blessing and gave me personally a Rosary which he blessed and a signed photograph and holy card. I treasure these Devotion items very much and my grandfather died believing he was very blessed.
I really love Pope Benedict and was a great supporter of him and his Papacy. I loved his Liturgical style and Vestments- I loved how he made the Latin Mass more accessible and available to the people yet didn’t enforce it or impose anything on anyone. I love his writings and spiritual teaching- we can learn so much from him and by his example. I love how he brought so many Anglicans into the Church and created the Ordinariates. I saw him personally twice and will never forget my close encounter with him and will die remembering that. Today I bought myself this lovely Pope Benedict Cross which I got at the Padre Pio centre in London that I often go to and I have been inspired to share this with you and to write a little post on him.
Pope Francis loves him and sees him as a Father- he is so gracious and loving towards him, as is Benedict to him. Pope Benedict has been so wonderful and humble in admitting he needed to retire and to continue to serve the Church by a Holy life of prayer. I get so upset by those (including many Catholics) who make accusations and say bad things about him and against him. He only ever tried to serve the Church and do what he thought was best, to blame him personally for the actions of others is ridiculous. I just wanted to say that, he is a wonderful man. I haven’t read all his works but those I have read about helped me and inspired me so much- I intend to read more of his books.
May God bless and protect our Holy Pope Emeritus-I know he is not in too good health, he looked very fragile at the Canonizations last week but it made it so special and added to the occasion that he was present. I loved how he and Papa Francesco greeted each other, it was so special!!!
