Appeal from plain Catholic faithful.
Code:
This letter gathers different Catholic faithful, from different tendencies, who wish to support the pope in his brave gesture. The authors of this site assure you of the complete confidentiality guaranteed to the names of the signatories, the list of which will be transmitted only to the Holy See.
On January, 21st, You decided, Holy Father, to put an end to the excommunication which pressed on the bishops of the The Society of Saint Pius X. By this brave gesture, You acted as the minister of the herd entrusted to You by God.
Code:
We are men and women invested in the life of our city, we are fathers and mothers with a family or unmarried and, after stormy times, when « the boat seemed to take the water everywhere », we wish to build with You the Church of tomorrow with its Tradition for base. This project includes inevitably the transmission of the Faith to the future generations, by the love of the Catholic Liturgy and by the defence of the human life.
By this letter, we wish above all to express You our deep gratitude. If this historic gesture can provoque on You the denial from certain hostile media making confused mixtures, it arouses in us a tremendous joy and fills us with Hope. We prayed for Your intentions, according to the demand which You formulated at the beginning of Your Pontificate: « Pray for me, that I may not flee for fear of the wolves.(1)»
We want, by affixing our signature to this letter, to communicate to You our age and the number of our children to say to You that with You, we want to build the Christendom for the generations which will follow us, hoping wholeheartedly that this Christianity will be self-confident and will proclaim to all World the Credo.
So, it is in a spirit of filial respect that we bring You our support and our daily prayers for the pursuit of Your Pontificate, so that God’s Church will emerge increased by it.

I support the pope as well. This outcry is ridiculous its mind control! A person can be excommunicated now in some people’s eyes just for thinking wrong! Yet, no one was excommunicated for slavery, nor has anyone been excommunicated for supporting, legalizing, promoting, and spreading abortion.

The Holy Father has just become the victim of a very clever plot orchestrated solely for the purpose of unjustly tarnishing his image, and thwarting the healing process of the Church. ‘The Catholic Knight’ has published an open letter in support of Pope Benedict XVI in this troubling time. You can add your comments of support to that letter here: catholicknight.blogspot.com/2009/02/open-letter-to-pope-benedict-xvi.html

I always support the Holy Father, but I seriously doubt there is a plot, clever or otherwise, designed to tarnish the image of the Pope and thwart a healing process in the Church. Prayer for the Holy Father and the Church would be a much better course of action than creating conspiracy theories that only serve to confuse the faithful.

I have to admit that the Pope made a huge error in judgement in this case. But calling for his removal? Ridiculous…

So you think the timing was just a coincidence? No, my brother, our blessed pope has many enemies, including in the Vatican. Here’s more info on this.

Is that a political judgment? I think the pope did exactly the right thing. And he can’t excommunicate anybody because they don’t believe the Holocaust account as is - its not an article of faith. And it would be very unfair not to lift Bishop Williamson’s excommunication for that reason.

Thank you to the OP for the opportunity of expressing support for and to Pope Benedict. I have added my own comments to the blog of Fr.Z. I will look forward to being able, I hope, to have a wander around the blog at some point.
I wonder if this thread should also be mentioned in other Forums especially Spirituality. It may gain a wider and more committed readership coupled with action? After all, to pray for and support The Holy Father is a point of Catholic Christian spirituality.

Thank you again OP

I hope the next time I visit Catholic Answers - in a day or two I hope - that this thread will be 500 pages longhttp://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_1_7v.gif - T

I’m afraid I’m still not convinced that a conspiracy was planned anywhere to embarrass the Pope and the Church. Bishop Williamson’s outlandish comments have done that on their own. I agree with the Pope’s decision to lift the excommunication of the SSPX Bishops (and I believe Bishop Fellay has so far done a service to the Church in his handling of the situation concerning Bishop Williamson), but I believe that Bishop Williamson is a either a fool or a liar and his comments should not be ignored. Still, I do join in prayer for the Holy Father and the Church. I believe the Holy Spirit guides the Church and will guide us through this tragic incident as well.

i support the holy father in all things. is our Catholic faith.
conspiracy? sure why not? it always existed and not to believe such is to deny the devil 's work.

it is simple to see it happened right at the time when the Church is trying to recover from the fall since VII. and it seems to come from Germany again and again. why is that?

it is time to stand against germany again and again for their cleverness against the Church.

Germany government needs to stay out of our Catholic faith.
they should be ashamed of what they have done against the Jews and Catholics and be quiet.

**Come, Oh Lord to the aid of your People. we need you. **

Our chancellor Angela is being too full of herself imo addressing DEMANDS at the Holy Father.

I also have to say that I am disappointed about the statements of German Bishops and Cardinals (like Lehmann) criticizing the move of the Pope.

The excommunication had nothing to do with the Jews, neitehr did the lifting thereof. They ought to simply shut it.
