Supporting Traditional Marriage on facebook

Just got back on Facebook after 40 days of none of it for Lent…I just wanna hang my head in shame and frustration. I’m blocking anyone who has that pink equal sign graphic for their profile picture. I didn’t miss Facebook during my Lenten contemplation, and being back is like culture shock or something. It’s like stepping onto another planet, even. I’m not sure if my account will last. I use it professionally, so I’m torn about staying on or just cleansing the palate by a clean wipe of that filth-ridden, narcissistic forum.
Switch to Linked-in, there’s none of the garbage and mostly the professional people use Linked-in. You won’t lose any professional status without FB.

It’s easier to sit back and do nothing. It results in less conflict, but we are sometimes called to be persecuted for just being a witness to the truth.

I just posted a few possible profile pics that anyone is free to use. I like the cross, you just have to center it with the cross (the lower portion).

Let me know if you have any thoughts!

Absolutely agree. At least with Facebook, you have the chance to create it the way you would like, not so much with the people you may have to deal with in real life due to job responsibilities or through other of life’s encounters.
The entire point is Facebook is no letting people who are pro-traditional marriage have their say in the way the opposing crowd. I have thus far escaped their wrath since yesterday.

The thing is, aren’t we called to defend our faith, even when it is under attack? If we sit back and do nothing, we have failed. I don’t think we should be silent on facebook. Social media is a powerful way to reach a lot of people.

One of my friends posted a Happy Easter, thank you Jesus for dying for our sins.

Then the very next post, he posted up a picture of an Easter egg with a gay rainbow flag sticker on it. He said that in his household, they celebrate Easter for all sexual orientations.

I wrote, “You were earlier talking about Christ dying…yeah, Christ died for everyone’s sins. Guess what one of those sins is? Engaging in homosexual acts.”

Thanks Jason! That takes some guts. It’s always a fine line, pointing out the truth and balancing with gentleness.

Plenty of my friends have been posting anti gay marriage things.

I am tempted to put that up as my status and watch the flame wars start!

:rotfl:
Please do.
It isn’t flame worthy - just a simple observation. 👍

Oh, you don’t know the gay marriage supporters, do you? Any comment that doesn’t agree with them is flame-worthy, believe me!

But I did it anyway! And one of my cousins, who is Iowa liberal, immediately liked my post! 🤷:rotfl: You just never know.

I have just one thing to say about the OP’s title that includes “traditional marriage.” I understand why we use the two terms together, but I think we should stick to calling it “marriage” and not differentiating between traditional and gay marriage…it’s marriage and there’s only one marriage.

I was listening to Rush Limbaugh last week and he discussed how we’re losing the battle on words in this debate. We’ve come to calling marriage “traditional marriage”, “hetro-marriage”, “one man/one woman marriage”, “same sex marriage”, etc. His point was that these legal unions are not all marriage, but that we’ve sometimes fallen into the trap of adopting the left’s terminology and we can’t do that.

Sorry for the tangent…
